Mono tub
    #26668891 - 05/13/20 04:31 PM (3 years, 9 months ago)

This would be my second grow. My first was with brf tek and I am thinking about trying a mono tub. If I used my brf cake after its full colonized what's the best way to intermingle it into a mono tub substrate? I have heard blend it or grate it. What is the best way and how do you watch for contam. I have a glove box for my Brf

Unfortunately many people will tell you that spawning cakes to a non nutritious substrate doesn't do much to increase your yields. IDK, never tried it but I would try spawning some cakes to a shoebox or tray, then removing after colonization and fruiting like a super cake in your SGFC.

Other than that I'd say try stepping up to grains. They aren't difficult and IMO multispore inoculation works just fine if you aren't ready to step up to agar.

As far as spawning the cakes I would just use some coir and break the cakes up by hand wearing gloves.

Well, with shoes or monos look to a spawn to substrate ratio of between 1:1 to 1:4, at least 3" deep for proper hydration and surface humidity. If all you have is a cake or two then, um, start over.

Yeah for a bulk grow you really should use grains.

I think they’re less work too, just pour them in a bucket of water then put them in a jar.

If you have a pressure cooker go spend the five bucks on wbs and try it out, you’ll be glad you did.

Oh Jesus fuck, you can't just pour grains in a bucket of water then jar it up and inoculate spores. Unless the goal is 100% failure. Quit steering people wrong.

I skip the the bucket part, mostly, and just put them in a jar with water.
