Right. I have injected my Spawn bag and want To know when I will start To see the mycelium.
It’s been three days now And still no signs.
Is this normal?

Yes, germination can take up to 1-2 weeks and even longer if you're using a spore syringe

Well first off it would depend on how much you injected and of what, hopefully a LC and not a spore syringe. But anyways 3 days without any signs of growth isn’t uncommon, sometimes it is colonizing the grains in the center and you may not see it. Don’t worry about it quite yet.

Youre not supposed to inject spores directly onto grain. Agar first then grain.

Even though this is relevant, OP is obviously not at that point in learning.

True, it isn't hard to learn how agar works, but keep in mind that some people learn in stages or levels. 'I'm used to shooting MS into BRF jars. So therefore I can do the same with Grain.' This statement is true because it does work and for someone learning mush cult it is a logical step up from BRF cakes to inoculate in such a way. OP will none the less go through what most have, handing MS grain jars to contams or failure in germination. He'll think as I did 'How can I stop these things from occurring?' which will lead him into the wet lab work of Agar, SAB environments, and Flow hood builds. Hopefully by that time they are like most still and have gained experience from their failures. Happy cultivation.

In a way, his entire cutlivation future will be descided by the desicion to put spores directly on grain.
How interesting

You could say I am by far the greatest example of this. I've been cultivating since 2011, registered on 2014, and only just barely the middle of 2020 have gotten skilled enough to use agar. I've even completed my first Liquid Culture this year as well successfully. For some it wont take 2 years of microbiology, a year of mycology self study, and then another few years experimenting with bulk rye grain. Heck, I've only just barely gotten BRF cakes together successfully - You wont imagine how many times I've nakered that up royally. My point is you can't just slap someone with a short 'use agar' post, they need to understand why you need to use agar; with failure comes understanding which in turn helps us grow. I believe in you OP :3

Just wait and see. Depends what you have used really - but that you didn't say..

Speeker certainly I am reptilian. I'm just saying that people need to have those real world failures to understand why agar is needed, the nagging I see everyone exhibit towards new cultivators, pushing them to a step they're not ready for and seeding uncertainty helps no one.

So it sounds like its OK to inject spores onto grain, as long as u dont know better? Is that the new concensus?

Imo, better to inject spores to grain than to shy away from growing because everyone says you need better methods.
Ofc agar is the way to go, but as said earlier, for many people mss to grain is a starting point, and given enough time and enough failures every half serious cultivator will make the leap to agar.

One can skip many things after the basics are OK. It's a weird thing really.
I have always been in favour and done some weird experiments. This is not one of them.. I'm a lazy bastard, so I have done some weirder things.. And even succeeded with them - sometimes..
Like someone sent me once an odd spore print. No idea what it was. I get these time to time.. So I just put it between some pieces of wet cardboard and outside to a balcony hot as hell and went for a vacation. When I came back bunch of shrooms had emerged. All quite rotten already but they looked much like some Conocybe spp. IDK really.
What I would skip, if anything, is the grains. I'd just suck it from the top of agar and inject to PCd straw, or whatever.

IMO, ppl should inoculate a few jars as well as few dishes with spores when they get their supplies. They can get some practice that way as well as possibly some shrooms sooner rather than later. If they get them to fruit, they will already see what things are supposed to look like when it's time for the real deal.

Practice makes perfect. To add that old story a bit.. Cardboard were in a slightly opened plastic box and not on the sunny side. No recollection about how long my vacation was though - so must have been a good one..

IMO, as long as you can get a culture to grow, you're not too far off track. I have never had great success with MS syringe straight to agar. Always makes some milky substance are rarely grown without major contam. I prefer to clone tissue onto agar and if this is not a possibility, I'll shoot the MS syringe straight to grain. Once I see some grains colonising, I pluck a few out and place them onto agar then throw out the rest of the jar. IMO, agar does not have to be the first step, but it is essential to refine your culture at some point before you can go balls to the wall with it.
If there is one thing I have learned about growing, it is that agar is the key to success. It looks all sciency with the petris and what not but the best advice for any noob is to start working with agar and never stop. Always have to go back to it, the agar step is never done. When I noc up jars with a wedge, I transfer a few nice rhizo pieces onto some other plates for use in the future. Mother jars noc up grain jars, grain jars noc up bulk substrate and that is the end of the line. Back to agar and repeat the process.
At first, I carried on with g2g over and over thinking I had no more use for agar anymore. Boy was I wrong. Every generation would get slower than the last and eventually contamination would set in. Always be cultivating and start from agar every time. Your cultures will improve over time and will have less of a tendency to become contaminated.

I did that my first time. After 4 weeks I found this place and started reading. After 3 months of reading I started again with success. I didn't have anything spawn in my bags. Lesson learned.

It's a point to start with yes and is just as looked down upon as injecting into BRF cakes

I agree on this, beginning multiple teks and having multiple vectors in which to study is essential in learning mush cult. You give yourself the ability to not only observe mushroom myc growth but also bacteria, mold, and other contaminates. This gives one understanding on how to pick out contams before it even spores by how the myc looks. You can observe multiple strains, compare fruiting methods, and discern what works best for your immediate grow environment. You might have more mushrooms than you bargained for, but is that all bad?
