Your still very much in the throws of the problem itself....as am I.

This at the very least proves there is part of you willing to put up an argument.

You are not fixed in place you are on a journey.

One of my personal lessons was that sometimes its ok to be lost.

but now you're starting to realize that it is paranoia, and admiting it for what it is. recognizing the deception for the falsehood it is is the beginning of wisdom, and a base for building the future you wish to create.

don't know what you want to create? that's fine as well. no one does at first. heck, i sure didn't. want to know a great secret way to get some inspiration on what you want to become?

play some video games. :rofl2:

no really.

video games. books. music. choose stuff with happy endings, noble heroes, romances, whatever - remember, you're seeking inspiration here, and if you're just listening to depressing crap and shoot em up games and reading lord of the flies and 1984 and the like...we'll... you're gonna get some inspiration, but it's not the kind of inspiration you're gonna want. it's like trying to decorate your house with chic furnishings then going to the salvation army where all the grandmas unload their old mouse teapot collections and shag couches - you're looking in entirely the wrong spot. :P

almost all progress, inspiration, and innovation did not spring, fully formed, from out of the aether. it was built on the shoulders of those who came before, and that was built on the shoulders of those who came before them. feel free to build on the lessons of those who came before you - you do not have to take their messages at face value, merely listen, ponder, and decide on your own if you feel it's right for you... or if it is not.

that's the beauty of it all. it's your house. your choice

your world. your creation. your soul. :mushroom2:

I can’t really say life is my creation, especially since millions suffer for something they had no say in or control. The universe doesn’t give you anything, it simply doesn’t care.

And apparently my emotions aren’t real or genuine either: https://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/26640869/fpart/7/vc/1#26640869

Also even though I know the paranoia is the issue it’s still hard to cope with this “distance” between me and life. It’s like everything feels so far away.

If I get scared by a scene in a scary movie it doesn’t mean the fear isn’t real or genuine, it’s just that I got tricked and my body responded like it was real.  Same way how at night I can be walking down the street and be startled by a man looking shadowy figure for a moment that upon closer examination is just a deer or a mailbox  .

We can do the same thing without external stimuli just by our own thinking.  Dreams are another good example.  Also it’s not fair to say the universe doesn’t care, although it is so, in a sense of sorts - but also not so in a sense of sorts-  the universe is the term for the whole of all the aggregates of it and whatnot.  As such , as a whole it isn’t a person and thus cannot have the faculty or capacity to care or not care.
In that sense it is silent, except for the sentient beings that are a part of it.  There are really good and caring people in the world,  and not so good ones too.  You have a say in how you wanna be.  The universe can be seen as indifferent or as equanimous.  It’s a matter of perspective

Maybe having a dog would be much better than a counselor!  I should have thought of that earlier instead of suggesting counseling.  Though any is fine, but I vote for the doge!  Get hands on and close and have a companion to be good to, treating it as you would want to be treated - with the appropriate perspective .  Direct connect with life.  Lots of ways to do it so that it is more salient than subtle.

On some level I don't truly buy solipsism, and I know that fear holds me to it. I think that by living as though it's true I'm protecting myself but I'm not, I'm just living with the pain of it when I can't prove it.

I know on some level my "evidence" could be something else, but with solipsism on the brain it seems like everything is proof of it all (even though by definition you would never be able to know it to be true). But again it's all fear, the fear of cosmic loneliness throws all my faculties out the window. It's hard to bond with people because it haunts me, I can't just be because it haunts me.

It's not logic anymore but paranoia. Everything seems to be evidence for it and it's all I think about.

The first step of paranoid/delusional thinking. Be careful Thanatos....

When first learning about Advaita in an introductory Hinduism and Buddhism class
the traditional comparision of mistaking a length of rope for a snake was used

my response was all "how can you feel real genuine fear of a snake over seeing a rope"

then was walking home one night on the bike path, and there was a length of cord that caused me to jump when seeing it in the dim light of street lamps
and the comparison finally made sense to me

enjoy the recontextualization with a mail box
but feel like the scary movie reference may not be wholly accurate
do recall feeling deeply fearful of my television set after my initial viewing of the The Ring
but it was also designed in a sort of meta way to evoke those feelings of "real" fear away from the viewing experience

I already have dogs and I neglect them. It’s my family that looks after them and I often try to avoid anything that involves their care and upkeep. The universe is indifferent. It also doesn’t work with dogs because I still don’t see them as “real” because of how solipsism ravaged me.

Though I expected as much fro philosophy, it seems to rationalize suicide or depression really. Antinatalism andThomas Ligotti taught me as much.

Poor doggos!

At least your family takes care of the poor doggos so they dont have to suffer for being sucked into the Solipsism Paradox.

You can always start bonding with them.  Might do you some good, but you’ll have to work past the initial period, where through the moments where it feels enchanted and fake etc.  Empty or not, even if total emptiness was all there was and everything was a grand illusion, we still have to eat, shit, and sleep, and have relations with the world and things in it.  Might as well learn to find comfort and ease in that enchantment.  Going on the internet is the same, but you’ve gotten used to it to a degree.  Everything new requires some “handeling”
You can do it man, I know you can.  Go love them doggies.

Unless they are tiny dogs...

Then definitely don’t love them because they’re just fake dogos

A real doge is a fetch doge who likes to walk in the woods with you.

That’s my bias

Mainly because my ex. Her “dog” was small and spoiled rotten.

Gonna get myself a chihuahua,
then every time it rains,
will remind my friends with big dogs that it is important to give them play and exercise every day
then play fetch with a toy mouse in the hallway

Lmao, all dogs are okay in my eyes.  Was joking mostly, I just don’t think I’d ever get a small dog myself. Even my ex - though at times a bitch, she was also a fox - so chimeras are where I draw the line.

Cats>small dogs
Big dogs = real dogs
Just got a german shepard/mastiff, she's getting so damn big and the ears just started standing up

There is no way the dog is a figment of my imagination. I can't even sleep through the night without this thing crying it's face off, and I can't be breaking shit in my kitchen when i'm in the basement doing lab work!

Get a male Maine coon... it's like a small dog, but it poops in a litter box, doesn't smell, talks a bit less, and is far smarter! :p

Have had a chihuahua crossed with a terrier before; he was slightly larger than the house cats
also had a miniature pincher that was the runt and malnourished for the first year or two of her life before we got her
she was less than half the size of our smallest full grown cat; and she would sleep all day in the space between my legs (sit in my chair half-lotus 90% of the time)

think my love for them is more like rodents than dogs or cats
rats are super smart, but short lived
taking the time to properly train a dog of any size means a fairly long-term and intelligent familiar
but more reliably affectionate than a cat

thinking of a long hair this time

all theoretical tho -- will adopt what makes it to me when the means come available
have an old dog rescue service in the area with some chihuahua crosses looking for permanent homes, but still not presently the right time

little dogs lose all the practicality of a guard dog or a working animal
but if they get small enough they make even 'better' lap companions than cats
because cats are independent and will hop off your lap and look for other places
whereas a dog once asleep will sleep until it is told it is time to eat or go out

more than anything, would like a snek
Emerald Tree Boa specifically, but would settle for some sort of Python
but cannot do so living out in the boonies -- power outages are a regular occurrence in the winter months
and a reptile without a source of warmth over night prolly would not make it
so out of the cards unless moving back in to city life

My cat can't get enough of my lap. It took 6 years for him to deem worthy and feels a lot more genuine then a dog.

A dog is always there to please and be your friend. A cat you need to develop trust and bond with. My cats know sit, stay, down, and play fetch. I had no clue cats could be doglike, I doubt most cats are this way, but I appreciate them more then a dog.

Maybe it's because I'm introverted, but a dog is always," LOVE ME LOVE ME LOVE ME, FEED ME, FEED ME, FEED ME, SQUIRREL!!!!!!" And they'll love anyone, it's fake to me!

Psion: fuck yea on the maine coon, does it like water?

We've derailed!

I heard rats are absolutely amazing just have a really short life span.

I think male cats are more chill then female cats from all my anecdotal experience.

Female dogs are more chill then male dogs, though this female pupper is giving me hell...German Shepard/Mastiff...intelligent, strong, and fucking stubborn!

Lol, male maine coon cats I mentioned because they get to 25 pounds or so in size...normally. they're enormous cats, yet known as gentle, if somewhat talkative, giants. Oddly enough they have a weird tendency to like hanging around men more than women, and are a bit dog like in nature when it comes to things like leashes.

They also are often fascinated with running water, with many of them playing with a running tap. A few enjoy baths, though most still avoid the wet, though without the fight to the death other cats put up... just a good brawl lol.

And cats can live for decades if they're indoor cats. Much of a cats shorter lifespan comes from the dangers and harsh conditions of outdoor life.

Siamese cats are the talkers! It blows my mind I could have 3 dogs and my cats would outlive all 3. Parrots/tortoises you could pass down a few generations!
