hey guys, how's it going. i'm new here. i've dabbled with mushrooms and am interested in absorbing more info about them. i saw this video which piqued my interest. makes the claim that there's weight loss properties in hallucinogens. seems rather dubious but was wondering if anyone could confirm or deny.

Maybe the right Trip would empower one to see their health & weight in a new way, and lead to one implementing changes to their life style that were healthier. Thus, loosing weight in the process.
But
Short answer, No, not as a weight loss supplement. .
It’s not a appetite suppressant anymore than being nauseous or being asleep and dreaming is. That’s my opinion.

I can definitely attribute some of my weight loss to my use of mushrooms. They helped me realize I needed to live a much healthier lifestyle than I had been living, and paired with some discipline, that realization helped me greatly improve my diet and exercise routines. Mushrooms also helped me kick a nasty alcohol habit that definitely didn't help my weight

I'm someone who has lost 50+kg and have a reasonable understanding of food addiction (addiction in general) and the psychology behind it. Lasting weight loss comes from a mental shift to a long-term change in habits. I see a couple of ways mushrooms can help here;
a) Insight gained through a trip. Personally I've not had a food/eating insight through a bigger trip but it's definitely feasible, I just think it might be too hit and miss to be a reliable weight loss tool.
b) loss of appetite - unlikely unless you're microdosing daily but you could see an effect here - I do lose any appetite for larger meals when on shrooms but tend to graze instead.
c)the afterglow of a big dose or regular microdosing; this is where I think the magic will happen. The longer term effects of mushrooms are feeling better within your own skin. When you feel better with who you are you tend to make more positive decisions and become more aware of your body - whether you're really hungry, thirsty, bored, craving a cigarette or a beer etc. As you become more aware you make better decisions about what goes into your gullet.
So yes, entirely possible in all three situations.
