Pins, do I need to increase FAE * 1
    #26666440 - 05/12/20 12:20 PM (4 years, 8 months ago)

Hi all, first time grower (b  from MS). My tub started pinning 4 days ago, I currently have 4 holes stuffed with poly and have cracked the lid for more FAE for a few hours. Any recommendations on anything else I should be doing? Posted a pic of current conditions.

Looks good. Got some young fruits there. Always good idea to increase FAE but id say your conditions are excellent right now.

Thanks I appreciate the advice! Been reading a lot here and want to make sure i have the correct fruiting conditions. My apartment is on the colder side 63-68 degrees so I’m guessing that will slow the fruits some what.

Would be a good time to get things ready to clone your favourite fruit. Get some agar going and the tools you are going to need. Once you get a nice tub like the one you have, it's time to work on genetics.

Thanks piggy, just starting to read up on agar and the process. I’ll be sure to get all those supplies ASAP.

No doubt. Thats on the lower end but will work. Mushrooms actually create their own heat so as long as its close, you will get some nice fruits. Theres also "cold fruiting" which is rumored to produce higher potency fruits.

keeping the lid on and put tub close to a light will help keep heat in.

watch the sweat around the bottom holes maybe lighten the stuffing on the bottom holes, but those arent too hairy your pretty close thats not too bad of hairy feet

edit: is there only 1 hole on the side of the tub?

There are 4 holes in the tub all stuffed with poly. I’ll try to get a light to help warm it up some, I’ve just had them next to a window for light.

The consensus will be divided here: many of us fruit in unmodified tubs with great results... really going to boil down to the local climate, your prep, and the organism you're working with, as it will likely have some preferences for conditions: this also applies to lighting... I've seen some varieties that need direct overhead lighting, and others do fine in ambient room lighting

As far as heat, if you're comfortable in your home, so shall your mushpuppies... 65-72 seems optimal for cubensis, while maintaining a low enough temperature to help combat competitors

Perfect, My temps are right around that range (maybe a little lower at night, I’ll probably set my heat around 65 to make sure it doesn’t get much lower). Ambient light seems to be doing the trick so far for this grow, but I”love definitely invest in some overhead lighting for future grows.

Just a small dome fixture with a 6500k led bulb (40-60w replacement is PLENTY) is sufficient... suggest led strips for multiple tubs... mushrooms need air and moisture in a balance: finding that balance is the fun part

I fruited a tub of PE while I was out of town for ten days, temp was in the 45-55 zone the whole time.

Made some really dense mushrooms, they didn’t seem to mind but spawn jars on the other hand maybe grew .25 inches.
