I get those from time to time and once they start doing that, it seems hard to revert them back to normal. I dump plates that start doing this.

I’ve had some do that. Only with spore grows though and it usually went away after a few transfers.
I have grown one tub from a plate like that and it was fine.
The lines are so clean I think it’s like a sector that just doesn’t grow.

Yeah. I think this happens because mycelial cells die in those places

I believe that mycelium cells are dying because of penicilin contamination. I have checked mother plate. Looks like it has green-bluish mold. I placed thi plate in wasrm place. Let's see...

....but have you ever seen the blank spots come back!

I should probably take a transfer from the edge where it all came back solid and see what happens. If it was from mold I think it would’ve shown up, this plate is over 2 months and I have some others even older.

I'm thinking the growth just disappears into agar with those plates. Because if you turn it towards the light source, you can clearly see there is growth, kinda like the transparent leading edge you get sometimes.

A.k.a Great pattern. i am going to do transfers too.
poisoned Yes there is a transparent at the edge. And at the edge of clear sectors, but not at whole sectors

Oh, when mine do this, it's transparent inside those sectors. Like, transparent is circular and then there's those wedges without top growth.

This happened to me too and the mycelium, if that's even what it was, was thick as hell, like half a centimeter off the surface of the agar. Same weird sectoring too, bright white. I trashed it because it looked so different from anything else I've ever grown successfully. I would be interested to see what this does if you transfer it and keep it going.

That is trippy. How does it do it?
