I use straight rubbing alcohol because I generally don't like smells and colognes.
I believe some have witch hazel for anti stringent effect.

Asante said: I must say I'm quite taken by PRORASO. It is relatively cheap, its what barbers use and not for nothing.
I used to swear by the high end Taylor of Old Bond Street Coconut scented shaving cream, but PRORASO in my view at least does as good a job, 3x cheaper, and more conveniently.
I'm gonna go with Proraso since I don't see any unnatural ingredients, the price is good, and also I use to see their products a lot at the warehouse I used to work at.
Thanks for the help, everybody!!!
Edit: Actually I do see strange ingredient names on the package I'm looking at:

A warm/hot shower with soap and water.
The less chemicals on your face, especially after scraping layers of skin off of it, the better IMHO.

I have really sensitive skin and shaving always causes me to break out. Nivea mens sensitive skin/unscented aftershave is amazing.

But are you a monster who has multiple blades, cuz more blades is better?
If you do use a shit cartridge, time to look into safety razor/double edge!

16 bladed razor - get at me bro.
Really though, for Christmas I received some of those 4-5 bladed ones. They gave a good shave.

My hair is basically barbwire with a tendency to curl back under the skin.
When i first started shaving it would take 2-3 of the mach 5's or whatever to get through my beard.
Since switching to a safety razor I can actually use one blade for a few sessions. Get 2-3 ingrowns a shave as opposed to 20-30, less waste (plastic), and saving a fuck ton of money.
