Which contams are dangerous to consume?

So fruits from tubs with green molds are fine to eat and fruits with bacterial blotch are safe as long as they’re dried, but are there any contaminants that are actually considered dangerous to consume? What about black and lipstick molds? Are there any other bacteria that are considered dangerous?

I just did some reading about molds and it seems like you’re much more likely to have problems from breathing in spores than anything else.
I only saw stuff about a couple black/brown and occasionally very dark green molds that produce toxins.

I guess I’ll just stick to the light green stuff lol
You know if there’s any way to identify the type of bacteria without a microscope?

Mushrooms won't take up any of toxins and AFAIK, most contams won't grow into the mushroom itself, except for trich.

I think this topic is really important and probably something we all have asked ourselves.

So it would be safe to say that you won't get sick from eating mushrooms that grew from a substrate that was contaminated by bacteria or mold? I read somewhere that you shouldn't eat any mushrooms that have a different smell than earthy/mushroomy.

100% agree. All are toxic to eat. Dont eat them. From what Ive heard, the toxins are not absorbed into the mushrooms.

In nature, all mushrooms are growing from contaminated substrate and nobody is checking what's growing next to the mushroom myc.

I know Pleurotus and Inky Caps are listed as hyper-accumulators on Wikipedia but I believe that’s only referring to heavy metals. I doubt there has been as much research pertaining to buildup of toxins in the psychoactive species. Not insinuating that there’s bad shit in there, just that there’s probably stuff that we’re not aware of yet regarding total molecular content. Or maybe I’m just stoned off my gourd and people already have this shit figured out lol.

If a fruitbody has mold on it, I wouldn't eat it. Some species of Aspergillus and Penicillium can produce aflatoxins which have been implicated as carcinogens. Plus, they taste nasty. However if part of your tub is infected and you chose to fruit it out, you may be okay to eat the mushrooms. I'm not sure if the Aspergillus or Penicillium hyphae penetrate fruitbodies the same way they run through bread; if you see a spot of mold on bread, it's been suggested that you can't just "cut the mold out".
