Headaches and Shrooms
    #26614401 - 04/20/20 05:43 AM (3 years, 9 months ago)

Hello everyone,

has anyone here cured headaches with shrooms? I have only recently learned about this, but i can't really find much advice on how to properly do it...

My situation:

So, i am a male in my 20s and i have had headaches pretty much ever since i can remember. I get them once or twice a week, sometimes i get this cycle where the headache is in the background for several days and it fluctuates in intensity... It's really taking away a lot of joy in my life.

I usually treat them with acetaminophen or ibuprofen and it usually works (unless the pain gets so bad that i puke it out). I take like 20 pills a month, and i fear that it is taking its toll. I have learned that certain things trigger it (oversleeping, not drinking enough water, not eating enough and so on) so i try to act accordingly, but sometimes the pain comes seemingly out of nowhere.

I have been tested for allergies (all negative). I have been to neurology twice (no find). I have had my cardiovascular system checked (everything ok). Then i have gone to a physical therapist, and he said that my brain is not getting enough blood flow and i have to exercise my neck (he said that i have CC syndrome)... I have been exercising it every day for 6 months now, but i can't say that it really did much...

This past week i have had a headache every day... i have been getting pretty desperate, so i once again scoured the internet for remedies and i have found that shrooms cure it for some people... So i have taken one small mushroom (colors got brighter and so on...) and i think that it really worked. For a few hours... in the evening, the headache returned and i had to take acetaminophen again... Today the headache is not very bad, but i can still feel it a little bit...

I would be very grateful if someone comments with tips on how to medicate headaches with mushrooms, or possibly with something else.

Thank you for reading

I believe there have been some studies involving psilocybin and migraines.  There are anecdotal reports of similarities between the visual aura from migraines and visual alteration with psilocybin.  Your headaches do not sound like migraines.  Lion's Mane, Ginko biloba are worth trying.  Do you drink a lot of water?  Increasing fluid intake may also be a simple thing to try.  The physical therapist might be onto something - but rather than exercising you neck, ramp up cardio to enhance blood flow in general.  Breathing exercises / Wim Hof Method also worth a try.  All the best -LM-

Anecdotally, some people do experience headache symptom relief. Most studies have targeted migraines or cluster headaches (in my reading), but anecdotally, street people also have some symptoms relief for minor headaches. You don't need much at all though - 1/35 of "normal" recreational consumption or .1

Start at the base and work your way out. Most who experience migraine headaches I have found have fallen out of the habit of maintaining their base.

Sleep. For some 7 hours, others 9 hours. These seem to be the best numbers for obtaining optimal REM cycle. When you know, you know.

Water.  Always be hydrated. Drink a gallon of water a day.

Exercise.  Flush, sweat out what you put in.

Take your Time.

Take a large dose of mushrooms without the input of others and/or devices and see if something comes up. Now more than ever is the time to change. If you are in the city or packed close with others, find and protect your own space.  Best of luck!

Long shot, but take a look at your scalenes

Poke them.  Apply pressure, then tilt your head away from the side you're touching.  In either case, they should not feel painful or uncomfortably tight.

I had headaches that at one point prevented me from spending more than 15min in an upright position for two weeks at a time.  Went through a bunch of scans/neuro before I figured out that my combination of sedentary lifestyle and regular use of sleeping aids were causing my scalenes to tighten up and cause more pain than you'd think would be possible.

Careful stretching had it 90% fixed within an hour, with the rest sorted by the next day.

I've been battling migraines for 7 years. BTW, if your headache causes you to throw up, it's probably a migraine.
I've tried too many things to mention here but i can say that shrooms have made a huge difference for me. I microdose every night. I also have to do what others mentioned: sleep, water, exercise, massage. And I have to take large amounts of vitamin D as well as avoid certain foods (wheat, anything chemical like sodium triphosfate)
Have you considered seeing a naturopath? If you find a good one, they can help a lot because they look for the cause and treat that. not just the symptoms. I'm surprised your neurologist didn't prescribe you a triptan, it can stop a migraine. If i get a multiday migraine, and tripans don't work, I'll go in for an injection of Toradol (non-steroidal anti-inflammatory), it works amazing. Good luck.

PS Even though you said you're not allergic to anything, you might consider keeping a food diary. Write down everything you eat and when you get a migraine to see if there is a pattern. Without a food diary, I would have never figured out that avocado is a migraine trigger for me. Healthy avocado- who would have thought?!

Agreed artificial sugars (or In my case energy drinks) also being around diesel fumes is almost certainly going to cause me a migraine, hot shower make myself spew, only relief for me. Also my stepfather who complained of frequent migraines smoked alot of pot. Also after my own frequent cannabis use and using chlorophyll to strip/cleanse my body of trace minerals also gave me migraines. So I believe it is about diet more than anything, secondarily psycological. But I am not a traditional doctor.

A lot of headaches and migraines are coming from a neck disorder.
Neck muscles are easily stressed for various reasons (position, bad pillow, sleep deprivation etc...). The spine is weak right under the skull on Atlas and axis, this can put stress on a lot of nerves.
I highly suggest neck massages.

I work on a computer all day and blue light blockers glasses worked for me.

Cafeine can help reduce headaches too.

When pain is really strong, I lay on the ground with a hot pillow behind my head and a cold towel on my forehead. It helps a lot.

I highly suggest not taking ibuprofene too often. It can really create a lot of health problems on long term
