An unlikely success story? Maybe (pic) 1

So you've bought your MS and squirted .1CC onto agar... now what? Well I threw the rest of mine into bags (and jars and bottles.) Now just as my agar is cleaning up and ready for grain, my first MS bag is on the verge of pin porn. I noc'd 7 bags and lost 2 right away, 4 I'm letting consolidate and 1 I fruited straight grain with a coir casing. I layed it on its back in an unmodified after its shake. I didn't spawn to bulk because I'm assuming it's somewhat dirty and that contam shows quicker when you break up and spawn to bulk. I was hoping I'd get at least a trip out of it before losing it but now I gotta say it's looking pretty awesome. Picture below, I'll update regardless if this goes great or terrible

That's completely within reasonable chances. Most of us are aiming at way higher success rates.
You don't need to let grain consolidate and you can spawn the rest of them to bulk if there's no visible contam IMO. If you're breaking it up, it needs to grow out again anyways.

its a really shitty pic man but that looks dry as hell and like mold mixed with trich to me. i could be wrong but thats what it looks like. especially if there was no grain in there. cuz from reading that it sounds like u just shot up spores into bags of bulk substrate??? if thats the case its most likely fucked.

All good advice! To clarify though I didn't break it up, I laid it in that 54qt tote, in its final resting position after it got its first and only shake.
I pierced the bag in open air which is also why I'm thinking contam chance is going to be higher. But if this goes multiple flushes without contaminating I'll consider spawning my other bags to spawn. I could turn each bag into 2 tubs that way (they're huge bags, another contam factor as colonization took forever.)
Whatever I get from the bags is just bonus though now that my plates are ready to rock ?

No you misread, it's straight grain, no bulk. Just a thin coir casing. Must be a shitty pic, looks amazing and smells amazing. Wouldn't be surprised if it turns though, nothing to do but wait and see

I'm piercing my bags open air lately, since I feel like doing it in my smallish SAB is counterproductive. A bag is like 1/8th of the volume of the SAB and any movement will cause way stronger currents than in open air.
These days, I'll put a paper towel soaked with 70% alcohol on the bag, prep my LI, then just lift the towel up to produce a "roof" over the injection site. Inject and seal with shoegoo.
I don't have enough data yet to do any comparison, but it feels cleaner than doing it in a SAB.

I wish I had thought of that earlier, good idea. I just put SHIPs on all my empty bags though. Duct tape, then silicone, then packing tape. It's not going anywhere lol
My next step is to use jars noc'd with agar to make GLC and nog up bags.

Syringe to grain definitely works, I think not too long ago that was the main method used.
Especially with well made syringes.
I got four from a big vendor here and did tons of grows without losing a jar.

oh itl work its just not as much of a safe bet as using agar is and you will 100% end up with some kind of shit in there. i have done it many times myself tho and had good results but i just dont suggest doing it when there is clearly a bettr method available that will give you some kind of control of it instead of just a complete roll of the dice. know what i mean. i guess im just the kind of guy that if im gnna do something i want to do it the best way possible to increase my chances by that much more of a successful grow is all.

Thanks y'all. Came to about 32.5 wet Os, very happy about that. It was probably my nicest canopy but I was concerned because none of the fruits got very tall. I think too much FAE may have stunted it a little. It would dry out without a heavy misting twice per day. I've cut down on FAE for my next flush.
Any guesses on how long I'll have to wait before I see a second flush?
