Do these have a poor flow rate or something? I know FP can be a bit sketch bit they say this about the FFU they sell:
"This unit can also function as a quiet and effective laminar flow hood for the laboratory environment. (Due to its relatively low air velocity [approximately 100 feet per minute], this unit should be used as a laminar flow hood in environments where there is already sufficient air filtration or treatment for general laboratory use; it is not suitable for this purpose in areas with a high airborne particle count.)"
Here's the page: https://fungi.com/products/self-contained-air-filtration-unit
They're saying you shouldn't really work with one of these without a clean lab?
With regular flow cabinets you wanna keep your space clean but you can run them in a room with carpet even if you apply good sterile technique, so I'm not really sure what the difference is?

Another member posted about using the FFU and seems to have no problems with it.
A mushroom supply co. also uses FFU and says they are solid, So Im not too worried about it. Flow rate on mine is around 90FPM, 700CFM.

So I'm looking to do the same thing, I have the expandable funds but can't build a flow hood due to lack of space. I know there's a $1100 flow hood out there I hear of but can't find it online. any help would be appreciated

Pretty sure you can run a flow hood in a dumpster just fine if not being an idiot about technique.

Is it necessary to shower every time I work in front of the flow hood? and is face mask necessary? I get hot as fuck wearing that shit.
