Anyone Use Wireless Hotspot For Internet?

I'm living in a place where internet is very limited, all I've got is 40gb a month then it slows down to a crawl, not even fast enough to watch youtube videos. Most hotspot plans are limited but what I'm concerned about is how much they will slow down once I've reached my cap. Any suggestions?

i used wifi hotspot for months after the free wifi in my apartment building was turned off. i started paying for more data but even then it would always run out.
are you unable to set up an account with a local internet provider?

Use a VPN, so they dont know how much data youre using, and wont slow it down..

I don't think a VPN would work. Ultimately you're still using the ISP to access the VPN to access the internet through, so they can still figure out how much you're using just not what you're using it for.
OP, if you're struggling to pay for an ISP, look into seeing if you qualify for lifeline.

I googled it and I'm going to try it. Still I'm looking for a wireless hotspot plan that slows down the least after cap. Right now hughesnet and Clark's satellite are only services available to me. Both suck.

The big argument for it - that VPN companies make - is bypassing internet fast lanes so it might actually be worth it and helpful if someone is getting throttled due to that(you're a netflix user and your ISP is paid by Disney+ for a fast lane). Mileage may vary though - if the ISP is throttling due to capacity issues at peak time then they are doing it indiscriminately and a VPN won't help.
I think most are a couple bucks a month though - so it might be worth a try OP . Next time your shit is super slow, go to speedtest.net, and test it. Install a vpn, and re-test.

I use these guys. It's a little expensive at ~$300 for the gateway and $90 a month but it's unlimited. https://www.ubifi.net/
