Is this vert?
    #26662093 - 05/10/20 10:41 AM (3 years, 8 months ago)

Hello everyone, noobie grower here with a few successful shoeboxes but I keep running into the issue of super small fruits. My original assessment was too much water in the sub, but after doing a bit of research it could be due to a possible verticilium contamination in addition to the overhydrated sub, which makes sense since too much water can lead to contamination.

There wasn't too much info/pics available on diagnosing it, but one consistent thing I came across was spots near the base and splitting stems. I never got any splits but I did get these weird lines up the stipe which look like they'd split if the mushroom grew bigger.

I'm hoping someone with a better eye for it can tell me if I have vert or not. I finally have a different tub that's throwing good sized mushrooms, but the first 9 or so all had very small fruits/low yield, like maybe 7-10g dry per box. Really good pinsets but they rarely make it over half an inch to an inch tall and don't really open up all that much, just develop into very small mushrooms with these being the largest so far.

Here's some of the larger mushrooms picked this morning, still not super impressive maybe 2-3 inches tall, if that, but with those flecks and weird lines.

Any info/advice would be appreciated. This hobby is awesome and I wouldn't have any success at all without the Shroomery

Can you shows pics of the sub? Small fruits as well as those marks can be a result of overwatering.

my subs were definitely overhydrated leading the smaller fruits, I've since dialed in my coir a bit more. I'm more concerned about the brown specks and the lines. To my understanding, vert only affects fruit bodies and not the mycelium but the specks can be a sign of vert from the searching I've done. I have a box that's putting out some big bois that'll be ready to harvest in a day or two right now. I just want to get an eye for this particular contam if I happen to have it now.

Those are pretty young, a lot of growth happens at the last minute so giving them another day or so would help too.

they'd pinned about 9 days before harvesting, they'd been that size for about 3 days with very slight opening but no growth. I left the smaller ones in that shoebox to see if they'd grow more but it's been a couple of days and no discernible growth.

Not seeing vert, but the bases of some of these fruits show signs of Pseudomonas bacteria...the little, dark speckles around the base resemble it.
