P. weraroa: A mushroom love story

Hello! I would love some opinion on what is going on in the following photos if anyone is interested
Location: New Zealand, lower NI Habitat: Half a year old coniferous woodchip irrigated over summer Potential ID's: P. weraroa + P. subaeruginosa (?) +/= P. romance (!?)
I am fairly familiar with P. weraroa from around the region and it appears to me that these pouch characters are quite different. Interestingly I found P. weraroa and what I believe is P. sub about 1.5m apart in the same patch, with this weird golden version in between...
I've read about Psilocybe weraroa var. subsecotioides before, and have found ones looking identical to the ones in that link, but these look quite different again.
Anyway enough of all that! Here are some cool photos

Photo 1: All 3 together (note traditional P. weraroa colouring at right) Photo 2: P. sub? Photo 3: P. sub, with golden stranger in the foreground Photo 4: P. weraroa with golden stranger Photo 5: P. sub? Photo 6: P. sub? blue juice

not to my knowledge. interesting to see if further propagation turns out more intermediaries.
full disclosure; I am slightly biased toward believing that there is room for hybrids and polycultures. So I am keeping my eyes focused for any evidence that may support that.

I have seen similar in my area, alk (this was last year, I didn't have much luck last year). with very similar habitat. But I also found another one(single body) in a quite different habitat.

Hey. I am pretty new to these mushrooms, but i have been trying to get through all the info out there on mushrooms in NZ and I was wondering if this could help with your unidentifiable mushroom?

Nah psillykiwi, I don't think they are secos...
If you want my opinion.
I think that what you are calling "golden stranger" are Psilocybe weraroa, but growing on woodchips.
They just look far to enclosed to be Psilocybe subsecotioides, and if you ask me, that skin looks thick. like weraroa skin..
And the gills in the cross section look just like weraroa gills, not subsecotioides gills.
Subsecotioides skin is more thin than weraroa skin. I don't know the correct term for the pileus of the pouch fungi off heart, inski would know. (I can't be bothered looking it up)...
Perhaps inski will see this post and give us his opinion.
I vote Psilocybe weraroa though.

Any habitat shots off the more traditional blue/white looking weraroa?
Or were both colours found growing in woodchips bro?
I'm very fascinated by these pouch fungi collections. I reckon they are both Psilocybe weraroa, but growing on woodchips.

Okay fuck my bad, so you did find them all in woodchips!!!
You have Psilocybe subaeruginosa, AND Psilocybe weraroa.
None of the mushrooms in your images are Psilocybe subsecotioides.
All the pouch fungi are Psilocybe weraroa!
What a find.

Both colours are P. weraroa bro.
What you are calling "Golden Stranger" is also just P. weraroa.
That was easy.
It's rare to find P. weraroa growing on woodchips like you have BTW, that's a super duper rare occurrence.
Legend.

Thanks for the input and interest everyone.
Yea they're not like those secos for sure, I've picked ones like that in the past and these are quite different. That's an awesome information sheet on them though psillykiwi, thanks for sharing that.
Roger yea I definitely hear you that P. weraroa is the likely option.
I'm potentially getting a bit ahead of myself for sure, it just seemed so strange that they were right in between the standard P. weraroa and the P. subs. Although those subs have lost a lot of their colour so maybe the patch just took a strange turn. Regarding woodchip I've seen plenty of normal ones on woodchip (see photos below), but it's definitely a possibility that some patches exhibit different growth characteristics in different environments.
