Nice. I've been trying since November, all of my cultures looked bacterial like this:
I couldn't clean them up for some reason. I went back to spores and got some decent looking growth on a t4 now though that I'm going to make some LC with. I'm hoping for some good stuff soon.

My initial 118 swab in December was contaminated beyond rescue. It was same day replaced with no questions asked. I sent a message & was sent a tracking # literally minutes later. In that package I was greeted with 2 varities that were clean as a wistle. Awesome customer service.

Are there even other types? Someone had pmed me a link that was saying it's only semi stable. Maybe we are just seeing un stabilized genetics.
I spawned a single shoebox tonight. Will do some mini monos as soon as the other jars are colonized. Hope they are the right pheno.

There’s Melmak, then the next most popular one is called 118 and then I guess there’s a TP version too.
Apparently the regular Melmak is what I have and then 118 and tp are the PE pheno.

Probably some of the best gentics I have RN
Best yield so far was over 200% BE, 1/2 lb dry from ~4lbs spawn 1:3

I really want some of those super bumpy stems. Even with my regular PE I’ve never seen it.
Gizmo I’m gonna hit up the guy we got swabs from and see what his take on this is. When my first pins came up I said something like “guess that’s what I get for buying spores from some random place” and one of the TCs said the guys legit or a friend or something.
I’m curious why the type I got never showed up until the last couple months. So weird.

Nice Melmac AyePlus, that shit looks craaazy
I got some going right now, first time at it. Dont know what to expect. I've seen so many different results posted here so I'm going into it not even expecting to get proper results. Some that look like regular cubes, some that look like PE, etc... my plan is to just clone any bad ass fruits that this attempt hopefully yields.
Did a couple swabs to some MEA no pours and they germinated fast but have been super slow otherwise. Even by T4 the myc has literally taken 3x as long to colonize my plates vs any other plates I've done. The myc has looked kinda strange too. Very whispy and flat, hard to explain.
Spawned 2 shoeboxes so far and am planning on spawning a couple more and a handful of mini monos or sweaterboxes. So excited to see how this turns out. I love penis envy and the thought of consistently epic uncased PE sounds so fucking appealing.
Not at the lab rn but I'll edit and post some pics later.

Yea let us know what he says I'm real curious now. This probably isn't the most work I've ever had to do to get a clean culture but definitely the most frustrating. If it turns out to not look like PE I may be mad for a couple days lmao.
