AMber Pools and looooong fruiting times...

NNOB here...
I am posting this picture to help figure out where the hell I am at and what is going on. I have just created this account and have been reading here for about 5 weeks now. So far I am still confused as to whether this is a bad or good scenario.
Here's what I think: My substrate was not fully colonized before I fruited. My tub was too hot at one time. My tub was too wet at one time from too much humidity and not enough FAE. Less is more in this arena. No pinning yet.
I have finally taken down all the automation techniques and I am just gauging the humidity and saturation with the naked eye. Adding moisture and the fan as necessary throughout the day. I am noticing that the substrate seems to be thickening up and might pin in the next few days if I keep this up.
Need any and all advice here.
THank you for your time.

Looks very weird, I wouldn't hope to get any results from that.

It’s hard to say exactly what’s going on. It could be a mixture of things. Bacterial sub, too dry or hot or maybe too wet. It just doesn’t look happy lol. But that happens often I’ve noticed with attempts at automation.
All you can do is let it ride and see what happens, making sure there’s plenty of fresh air. Mist only when it’s needed but it may be hard to tell with that

Thanks. It is weird for sure.
They say the amber pools were fighting something typically and that isn't bad. Some have had flushes from them as well. So I am just going to press on without the automation.
Going to research this more before trying again. It is creating extra anxiety. And definitely scaling it down.

It could be from fighting something, but could also just be 'piss', subs tend to piss and when they're solidly colonized it'll pool on top. I'd take a paper towel and soak it all up, take 2 paper towels and fold them over, then drop it on top of the wet areas and gently pat with your finger tips. After you do that, soak up any moisture on the sides of your tub. That basically 'resets' the moisture. Close the bin and let it sit for 6-8 hours. If you come back to it and see moisture on the sides and top of the bin, your sub has enough moisture to regulate itself, leave it be, do FAE like normal. If not, mist the sides and top of the bin, and lightly mist the substrate. Do FAE like normal, 3x a day. Keep an eye on the moisture content on the top and on the sides of the bin. If droplets are combining and moving down the sides, your sub is giving off a lot of moisture and you shouldn't be misting. Keep an eye on the top and if you see more pooling soak it up with a paper towel, just put an edge of the towel in and let it soak itself up, try not to touch the sub much.

No sub produces as many metabolites just because it exists.

I am misting and fanning now when necessary and making sure there is no real saturation going on. Seems that there was plenty of moisture in the substrate and after yesterday's post it is starting to show pinning. Pretty sure it was too wet for a while and not fully colonized. So it was trying to do too many things at once. I think I will produce some but not many.
Yeah it does look like some funky shag carpet for sure. It smells like cubes I have purchased in the past and no funky or deathly smell at this point. Also no green or weird colors. I will add the pinning photos shortly.

Nooo. Got’damnit Bobby I said no vidya games. And no ‘piss’ either. Subs produce metabolites sometimes but they have never urinated. The term myc piss just seems so unmushroom for some reason and I get all miffed and high horsey when I see it. Don’t torture me bro

I mena, have we tested to see if it has urea in it yet? I think we just like to refer to it as piss because...it looks like PISS! I wouldn't drink it either way...

That surface definitely got beat up. Looks like it was bouncing between being soaked and dried out.
I had something similar my first grow and the myc dried up and then new myc sprouted from it after a few days and tons of pins showed up.
I think a lot of people overestimate the amount of water needed when they start out. I did for sure.
You’re much better off just leaving them alone sitting in a simple tub but that’s something you need to learn by doing too much first.

Let's see em! Did you soak up any of the excess moisture on the sub?

Here are the pins that have been forming since I took everything back to basic. Seems like this will finish off ok. I have no way of judging that as this is my first attempt.

Yes and that is the best kind of lessons. One of the starts has a nice blue/purple ring and looks dank! I am noticing one side pin between the tub wall and what now seems like a giant myco cake.
So now I just wait another week and harvest as they seem to mature? At what phase should I "twist and pull"?
After this "flush" what should I do next?
I wonder if there is new healthier myco forming now that conditions are more favorable. Seems like new "white" growth is forming.
This is fun. Thanks for all help.
