Man I love beating off to my own reflection! Sometimes I do it in front of my huge mirrors in the bedroom. Sometimes I tape record my self masturbating to myself, masturbating to myself.
Sort of like when you get the infinity mirror effect.
Damn that religion got you.

Any of you use a straight razor or safety razor?

Yeah, that's a yes!
Cartridge razors are for inmates of psychiatric and prison facilities.
Ewww I cant be trusted with a blade and dont want to acquire a skill but rather pay Gilette top dollar to make the most moronic multiblade monstrosities.
Be a man.
Here's my kit:

Merkur 34C HD razor Derby Extra blades Proraso shaving cream Taylor of Old Bond Street aftershave.

Same merkur!!! I'm a red personna myself, or feathers if feeling ballsy. Never could get into Prorarso. I need to step up my aftershave game
Got my wife shaving with the Merkur with the slant head (forgot the name)

Feathers! Cant get any sharper!
Derby Extra goes really well with the Merkur 34C HD razor, so much so its the recommended default kit for Method Shaving.
Derby Extra blades sometimes they go for over 10 shaves with me, I like it to have to rake it it a bit cause the blade dulled somewhat.
Great choices in razor and blade

I got the thickest most steel-like hair out of anyone I know. I get 3-4 uses from a blade and then it doesn't cut it.
I usually keep a beard and just trim my neck but with mandatory masks and the like, back into a clean face (Kinda missed it). Should really up my face-care.
I've been using an alcohol based after shave and then beard lotion to moisturize.
Oh my brush is an Omega Silver Badger

I don't use Aftershave but i use cologne. The two are basically interchangeable right?
I like: for casual warm situations Bvlgari pour homme soir Versace Man Eau Fraiche
for basic generalisation no matter what (I actually don't like this one a lot but i bought a lot of it thinking it'd be nice and to be fair it's not bad. Versace pourhomme Dylan Blue
In the colder weather i wear: Thierry Mugler angel men
When i've had a bath or am feeling sexy as fuck i wear: Jimmy Choo man ice.

DE razors are great for thick beards and longer beard hairs. It always amazes me when I let my beard grow out a bit with what ease a DE razor does away with it.
It sounds ill advised and for novices it is but I have grown a fondness for speedshaving. My personal record is in and out of the bathroom in 3:30 min. its like reaping it with a scythe.

Haha depends how many passes you are doing. 3-5 minutes seems pretty average for me, especially if you prep everything before you shower.
I have to buzz my hair down, or no way am I getting through my beard with just a razor.
Aftershave is for reducing infection, in-growns, and are astringent. They are scented as well, but very different products!
I'm a cologne man myself. Currently rotating between Givenchy Pi, Polo blue (Had for decades, not a huge fan), Issey Miyake L'eau D'issey.

I'm using a Edwin Jagger safety razor but i've only been using it for about two or three months. Winging it at the moment. I'm already a professional at cutting the skin off my cheek bones. This is my first safety razor and i don't think it will be my last. I really hate the handle. The vertical grooves make my fingers slide back making it harder for me to retain a grip and angle ect.
I'm going to continue to use my Edwin Jagger because it was expensive but i definitely would recommend an alternative brand.

Good you remind me, I haven't had an ingrown hair in my 11 years of DE shaving, and just about every month with cartridges.

Look in the merkur barber pole. It has a longer handle, it's weighted. You don't push you want to get the right angle and barely apply any pressure!
Play around with different blades they make all the difference in the world.

Sorry to hear your learning curve is so steep, looks like you picked a super aggressive rqazor. Thing is though, like a katana, that when you master it you have proficiency with one of the finest tools. The more aggressive the razor, the easier a BBS shave (Baby Butt Smooth) becomes.
If you want to do it by the book:

I must say I'm quite taken by PRORASO. It is relatively cheap, its what barbers use and not for nothing.
I used to swear by the high end Taylor of Old Bond Street Coconut scented shaving cream, but PRORASO in my view at least does as good a job, 3x cheaper, and more conveniently.

Proraso comes in 2 fragrances, but I totaly get that you don't dig it, they are very unusual smells and kinda "organic" heh
I used to use a Dutch brand when cartridge shaving which my stepmother insists "smells like rabbit cages". When I went Safety Razor I wanted a very high quality of everything.
Shaving transformed from a nasty, even painful and tedious chore to a fun activity.

The effectiveness of aftershave is largely due to the antiseptic effects of alcohol.
I use straight rubbing alcohol because I generally don't like smells and colognes.

I prefer maol grooming. Definitely my favorite, never any irritation and great scents.
