Hi everyone,
I'm digging around on this site for some help. But it's super overwhelming. Glad it's here though - I'll be digging more.
I've had this Lophophora williamsii since 2017. I know it takes a while to grow, but I'm wondering when can I enjoy the benefits of the plant? It's been a labor of love, but I'm thinking I've been neglecting it.
I have it indirect light (shade?), water it once/month. Change the soil about once/3 months with cactus mix, it's usually got a bunch of small roots, and a couple main thicker roots.
Recently a light fixture fell on it, so the skin took a little shaving. I'm worried I'm not taking care of it properly.
Any HELLLLPPPPPP is appreciated.

maybe find a cacti board somewhere. while i do know at least 1 person on here that also cultivates cacti. this isnt exactly the place for it

Oh yeah! That member! Ask a mod to move it to the EG or repost in there, OP.

We have an ethnobotanical subforum here where like hundreds of people grow various cacti, someone else mentioned it but I figured I'd mention it again in case you didn't know.
It's a great resource

Use a smaller pot, and a less organic and more gritty mix. Changing soil every few months is increasing risk of root damage and rot.
Once it has settled into a new mix and plumped and hardened a bit, introduce it to more light, increase how much it sees slowly though to avoid stress and burn. They don't mind full sun at least some of the day. You can see it is growing to a point instead of keeping flatter and expanding outwards, a result of insufficient light.
