I've only seen blobs with bacterial spawn running Mac. They do pack a punch though.

I’d bet that’s PE. The blobs, fruit shapes and especially the blotted caps are all typical PE traits. Although Melmak and PE are related so I’m sure some weird things show up occasionally also.

I agree with you. Looks like bad spawn most likely or its like AKA said. It's not melmac . Has to be one of the 2 IMO

So tired of misting but at least I’m nailing good flushes now

What did you settle on for tub design? I've got a variety I am trying to dial in (pasty micropore monos and pasty EZ dialed monos mostly). I know its probably best to run my experiments and see whats working best in my setup but my goal is to get it where I don't have to touch it after spawning.
I realized this worked well for me with PE because I was applying a casing and would just come in once colonized, case and that provided the moisture needed on the sub surface.
My problem is, in my climate(very dry), ideal substrate moisture content ends up allowing the sub surface to dry out a bit and I need to come in and mist. I'm trying misting the sub surface heavily after spawning when making my tubs to avoid this. I've also thought of adding a humidifier to keep the room at 50+% RH instead of the 20-30% it sits at. Any suggestions?
I feel like if I add more water to overall substrate, the sub ends up being overhydrated and I still have to mist as the surface eventually dries out a bit.

Melmac does that sometimes anyway.

It’s an old vendor, I actually just came across the one swab tube I bought from them a couple years ago the other day also Melmak.
Found this, turns out 3.5 years ago. Time flies.

So I just back into growing after 20 years. Had some success with shoe boxes. I find melmak interesting and going to start a batch but what variety would people suggest. I am thinking about doing true albino melmak, I am most concerned about potency. Thanks for input.

I like Mak 118 and Melmac TP. I have a few more to try but can't speak on them yet. The tp seems to be a smoother come up. 3.5-4g dry and I'm in a different world. I'm scared to go much higher with them but that is just my paranoia kicking in. I'm sure it's different for everyone, you know set and setting. They taste better than normal cubes IMO too. I gave 3.5g TP to a family member and he thought he was leaving this world permanently. He had to have his wife hold him in this dimension so he didn't leave. He hasn't spoke much about the experience but I'm going to try to get it out of him this weekend when I see him.
