The sandwich baggies are a 1/3 cup grain @ 1:4 cv.. the baggies I don’t really keep too much track of BE wise.. they’re mainly just to sneak peak (pin times, hiw well they pin etc) the tub they inoculated. But the PE varieties get me the best BE by far and the closer to 1:3-1:4 I get the better the BE. I got just over 200% first flush on the laymixed mak tub and that was closer to 1:3
The recent zipblocks I went heavier than usual.. probably 1:3ish and I’ll know the weight of the first one tonight.
Here’s 2 more almost ready and idk how they’re gonna compare to the first.. smaller fruits but more of them

And just cuz I’m in this thread, this tub gets better looking by the hour.. tubs even naturally happy it appears lol

Does melmak blob out easily or require casing like PE?

Blobs are pretty damn rare but I recall them happening at least once for someone. But they don't require a casing like swpe does. Maks are the shiznit

I got blobs as big as my fist from a melmac revert. The fruits don't look reverted at all though and are very slow to fruit, also the first flush is mostly blobs. That's why I prefer not to isolate a strain on agar before fruiting. I had better results with MS small grows and clone the best out of it.

I don't run pure Mak genetics, it's an unstable cross with an albino. The more Mak like cultures aren't blobbing. I can't use a casing layer due to invitro growing them in bags sealed unto harvest. Those with albino genetics blob way less with less grains in the sub mix. Sub is fully consolidated anyway, due to fruiting them neglect style. A good clone might start pinning four weeks after inoculation, which means about two weeks after full colonization (one small plate BLIed per bag). Shitty genetics can take over 10 weeks, just to fruit a few grams, well that's just MS.

I get melmac blobs, but mostly in vitro on overdue spawn or a few chunks amongst fruits.

was Melmak TP offered by HomeStead back in the days? or it's some sort of modern isolate?
if HomeStead offered the TP, did they offer any other Melmak variety that's not in circulation anymore?

Take this for a grain of salt but I've seen someone around that claims to know the guy "Alf Longstroke" that "made" Melmac.
It's from Homestead book company syringe labeled Mutation #1
Supposedly workman used these syringes to make the modern swpe as well...
Just something I read on the internet though so...
The TP is just a line of spores that someone took from a huge Melmac fruit and I would assume stabilized it somewhat. Good variety.

Yeah, I’ve been getting really annoyed with it. If I like APE and melmak, I may phase it out of my rotation.

Those two zipblocks dried down to 90g combine.. not as good as if they were a tub but pretty nice for ziplocks… got one more bag coming in.. looks like it’ll be about the same

Chopped this tub down.. this was a one and done.. the sub disintegrated when I picked it up… all the larger ones were ~150g

So Melmak was not even the name Homestead used when they were selling it?
