Spawned 4/13 Coir Verm
Still got a day or 2 to go as they are rock hard.
No blobs or mutants. No need for casing.
Slow PE got u limp.. 24 days in at this point & the potency

Original PE genetics from back in the day prior to SW. Homestead book company sold grow kits. These genetics originated from their.

Anyone tried crossing the new and the old lineages yet to see what happens?
So far melmac has been a fking headache.
I got a swab and after having trouble getting it to germ I finally cut the tip off and left it into a dish and got it to germ. Once it germed it took like 7 transfers before I got it to look right where I felt safe putting it to grain.
I put it to grain and everything looked fine. Come spawn day I spell it and it smells sweet as fuck. I was like great bacteria hidden bacteria at that.
Ended up tossing except a couple quarts I spawned to shoeboxes. Nothing happened. So after a couple months of not fruiting I tossed all but one that had like 3 knots on it. I kept that one and like a week later I had a single shitty little fruit that had aborted but another was coming up in its place. This one got a little bigger so I grabbed and cloned it.
I think I ended up doing a couple hot pours to make sure I didn't have any bacteria left meshed in. Transfered a couple times got nice uniform growth and put it to a LC.
LC colonized nicely so I swiped it to some test plates clean as far as I can tell. Put it to some grain jars and this is where im at now. This is 2 of 10 grain jars.

I have the newer kind going around, I was pissed at first cuz it wasn’t PE but it turned out to be one of my favorite looking mushrooms.
     
I’d never seen any like this and then within a month of finishing my grow saw three other people post the same ones. One guy thinks his swab came from a normal giant PE looking fruit so who knows what’s going on.

Thanks man, I’ve got swpe but not the PE looking Melmak. The kind I have is cool but it’s not the huge dicks I was hoping for.
lol I ordered PE as one of my first four syringes, saved it for last and was all nervous when I finally started it. The good old days....a few months ago.
Just dug up the picture. Guess I got my melmak swab on New Year’s Eve.

The first swab I had of melmak turned out like aka's pictures. They didn't look like dicks.
I have newer spores that are from a different guy...hoping it turns out like these..seriously those shrooms are awesome

Well I’m now super invested in your grow.
How far along is it?
I swabbed four plates with nothing then finally jammed the whole thing in the agar and it worked.
Dude I can’t even explain how mad I was when the first pins came up after all the trouble I went through. I lost my first spawn jar like two weeks in too.
Then I finally get it done and a normal pin pops up lol. It made it a little better when a pin the size of my thumb showed up a few days in but still disappointed at first.

And what’d the abort you cloned look like??
Your Melmak trials are like what I’ve been going through with that ape. I’m on jar six I think and this one will for sure make it eventually, it’s just painfully slow.

Yup same ones haven't spawned yet I'm waiting for the other 8 jars to catch up.
The pin looked like a regular ass mushroom lmao figured it was just because it was still so small.
