The slim ones with the easy to grab cap style are pretty sweet.

Glad you finally got the sig working right
I just ordered a set of punches myself yesterday. Looking forward to getting them and trying some out. What size do you use? I think the ones I got start at 3mm and go up from there. They have no handle, and I wonder if my alcohol lamp will get it hot enough to sterilize. If not Ill have to break out my pocket torch.

This is 7mm. I bought it from outside source. He makes them for this. Brass with wooden handle. There is also acrylic like d3monics

Ill have to try a few sizes n see which I like best. I just grabbed a cheap set from Amazon to try out. Think it was like $7 for a set of 6 or 7 different sizes. I remember seeing people talking about a guy who made and sold them, but Amazon is just so convenient lol.
Ill try em without the handles, if they end up getting too hot to hold Ill make a handle for whatever size I like. Ive got a few blocks of fancy wood left over from some other projects (curly maple, indian rosewood, and ebony), so I can make a nice fancy handle Maybe even make it with a mother of pearl inlay with my shroomery name.

Looks great D3. The wobble, though. It needs a stand...for me! I worry about the darn thing tipping.
I am studying your technique - very much appreciate your style and your sharing.

D3 it does look amazing and healthy. My agar work has looked nothing near as good for some reason mine has had issues stopping growth about halfway to the edge of the plate. They get about the size of a half dollar and just sort of quit. Ever since seeing your post though I’ve been looking for a good hole punch.

Ha! That is pretty cool. What are you using, a leather punch?
I feel like this would be nice for strain isolation. It might be easier to identify sectoring if the wedge isn't irregularly shaped

What are you wrapping your plate with, perhaps it’s a gas exchange issue?

That and I find it’s a bit faster and easy to pick the pucks up with a scalpel than trying to poke some irregular jagged slice

I’m liking that punch! Makes quick work of transfers, like a well oiled machine. I really need to get shit together and build my fh, but farm work is taking the lead right now while we haven’t had much rain. Turning dirt and planting grass for new pasture is more work than I’d like with a full time job.
