Lol yeah that makes sense, thanks.
The problem is it's the first time I have a substrate with vermiculite on top, so I don't exactly know how it looks when it's starting to dry. Probably more light-brown?
Do the circled spots look ok to you?

Those circle spots are mycelium poking up.
And yes, dry verm looks shinny and light colored. Wet perlite is darker and not shinny.

Nice, thank you for confirming it

Hi!
It's been 5 or 6 days since I put the kit in the grow bag and one of the kits seems to be progressing (some mycelium growth on the top layer, as well as some rhizomorphic mycelium when you look through the sides of the tub) while the other one hasn't changed much.
I guess it just takes some more time to notice any changes.
Since the vermiculite layer seems moist enough, I haven't misted these days, but I've poked like 10 holes on each grow bag because I saw many posts where this was reccomended due to grow bags not providing enough FAE.
Do you think this was a good idea? Should I make more holes or just leave it like this and see what happens?
Thank you

Hey!
Little update from today. I poked one more row of holes in the grow bag. Do you think I should tape them with micropore tape?
This is how one of the kits is looking today:

Thank you!

Hi!
Don't know if I should open a new thread or continue this one. Just let me know if I should make a new post.
It's been 11 days since I finished dunking the kits and one of them has developed some mycelium on the vermiculite casing, but the other one hasn't. No pins yet. Do you think something's wrong with these kits or is this normal and I have to be more patient?
Thank you

I just think no one knows what to tell ya lol. Just keep on waiting. It’s really hard to tell what’s up with these kits man. They all look the same with that chunky Verm layer and it’s hard to read compared to a non cased or a coir/verm cased tub that most people are used to dealing with.
If you have air coming in, which your holes will do and I think were a good idea, and you don’t let it dry out, and your myc is clean, it will happen.

Thank you! I will be patient then at least there's no signs of contamination, so that's good lol
It's hard to tell if it needs more misting though, because the sides seem to hold humidity well, but the verm layer doesn't produce those small droplets that you can usually see after misting. If it was dry I think it would be easy to tell from the colour of the verm layer.

Finally, after more than two weeks, one of the kits is producing some mushrooms. They are still very small, but I guess it's a good sign. There are also quite a few very small white balls which I think could be primordia.
The other kit is still not showing any progress. Should I dunk it in a couple of days as someone reccomended?
Thank you!

Here's a picture of a pin. Anyone knows why it's so small?

Thanks!
