Found dried up panaeolus cinctulus?
    #26656035 - 05/07/20 08:57 PM (3 years, 8 months ago)

I picked these two mushrooms off a lawn yet they were already dried up so they must have already been torn from the ground. They were pretty deep in the grass so I don’t think it was caused by someone already pulling them out. It looks as though it could be either a panaeolus cinctulus or foenisecii. Since it’s hard to ID them due to them being dried up I won’t eat them of course. I’m just super curious what you guys think. Thanks!                                                                                            Habitat: Lawn (new lawn in a rich neighborhood)
Where does it grow? Eg. woods, pasture, state, province, country, altitude, etc. What does it grow on? Eg. soil, dung, wood (dead, living, what kind of wood?), etc.

Gills: Black and very light shades of blue
Color, attached/not, gills/pores, etc.

Stem: tan, wavy, lines running up the stem
Length, diameter, color, texture, hollow/solid, thin/thick, etc.

Cap: light brown and gets darker toward the center
Diameter, color, texture, conical/spherical, convex/concave, etc.

Spore print color: is it possible to get a spore print if it’s already dried up?
Very important!

Bruising: No bruising but it could be because it’s already dried up
Color that the mushroom bruises, if any.

Other information: almost smells like chocolate
Scent of the mushroom, anything else you think is important, large close-up pictures showing stem, cap and gills.
