The pursuit of happiness. A life goal for some. I want to know where yall get your happiness from . I find myself seeking a happy mind state , but not always finding it. But I do not just mean 'being' happy. I mean positive and aware, I don't care about being 'happy' as long as I am alive and aware. Even if this means i am in pain. But of course the mental state of happiness is a 'good' one, so why not pursue it? Sometimes I get inspiration and happiness from seemingly nowhere. My mind creates this illusion and my state changes. Sometimes it will last day, and sometimes I will see something or a sign that triggers the oposite, and the downward, or most often nuetral, spiral of events continue. Where does this inspiration and happiness come from? Is that god? If I do not create it, then who does? IS there a 'possative and negative' if my mind activly seeks a certain state? The answer some would say is the subconscious mind, but then if you try to explain it by science, how can you say the mind, has another 'mind' that tries to create outcome in my life from my past or present... how can I subconsciously choose to be happy, if there is no god or some sort of function of the mind we do not yet know about?

here are a few quotes i have written down from some buddhist books i read:

Until you read the path,
You wander in the world
With the precious Buddha
Completely wrapped up inside
As in a bundle of rags
you have this precious Buddha, Unwrap it, quickly!

Its too close so we overlook it.
It seems too good to be true so we cant believe it.
Its too profound so we can’t fathom it.
Its not outside ourselves so we cant obtain anew.

i try and follow a buddhist lifestyle by putting my focus into doing one thing at a time. that makes me happy. being good to others makes me happy. I'm happy when i run and kick in my endorphins and when i meditate regularly (which i haven't been doing the past week :mad2: thanks for reminding me!

Mindfulness is the aware, balanced acceptance of the present experience.
It isn't more complicated than that.
It is opening to or recieving the present moment, pleasant or unpleasant, just as it is,
without either clinging to it or rejecting it.

The best way to find happiness is by acting to help others.
Always unpopular but true.

People would rather pit their beliefs against others in some sort of philosophical gladiator ring instead of using those supposedly wondrous beliefs in service to others.

I AM what Willis was talkin' bout.

I find that the real source of happiness is the sharing of moments with others.
Like, you could be happy if u climbed a mountain or something on your own, but imagine how much happier you would be if u climbed it with a friend of yours.

But personally i too find it hard to be happy these days; i find most ppl to be kinda dumb, and its hard to share good moments with dumb ppl, and plus the world's situation is critical today. its kinda hard to be happy when your house is in the process of burning down

What is happiness?

I am happy that I chose the course of life that I have chosen, but at times things come up that cause me to not feel particularly happy.

Happiness is a state of mind, and a matter of perspective. Sometimes my state of mind is skewed, and my perspective is warped, based on various factors, such as past experiences, and future expectations.

The day will come when, after harnessing the ether, the winds, the tides, gravitation, we shall harness for God the energies of love. And, on that day, for the second time in the history of the world, man will have discovered fire.  -Teilard

I draw my positive "lifeforce" from God by meditation and pure thoughts. I don't "feel" happy all the time but rest in a secure relationship with the Divine Love of the Creator and His Son.it all goes back to you are what you think, sure negative thouts come and you can't stop them like birds fling over your head can't be stoped but you can prevent them from building a nest in your hair.Think happy thoughts and fret
