Long Distance Mushroom Run

A couple weeks ago I decided I would run a half marathon distance for my last long run of April while experiencing the effects of Psilocybe mushrooms. My husband planned to tag along on bicycle. I awoke early and had a glass of water as well as got some toast ready.
While awaiting the toast I weighed out one half gram of dried Psilocybe ovoideocystidiata for each of us. The toast was ready so I ate it and my mushrooms too. My husband wasn’t feeling up to the day but still ingested the mushrooms. A half hour after ingesting the mushrooms I began to do the lunge matrix leg swing warmups and could feel the mushrooms beginning to come on. It took me a little bit longer to get out the door trying to convince my husband to come with but he wasn’t having it.
One hour post mushroom consumption and I had set out onto the road running a route I usually do on long runs with a few more nooks and crannies thrown in to hit the goal distance. The first mile I felt very stoned and almost contemplated going home due to my thinking the mushrooms were slowing me down. This proved to be wrong as the hill a half mile away was a breeze cruising up.
About three to four miles into the run and I was really feeling myself! Man I felt so in tune with my body and every single step, motion, it was fucking beautiful and all so fluid! For most likely the first time in my life I really was taking the time to appreciate my body mechanics and understand that I am the machine in myself.
Five miles in I began descending a regular hill that I have never gone up yet imagine it would be brutal. I passed by this dude and he had the fucking hugest smile on! I gave him a wave and said what’s up and as I continued down the hill I started crying. The tears were due to me realizing this guy is fucking happy to be out here running and hearing the birds and life and that big ass hill won’t bring him down!
Mile seven I was reaching into my pack to grab my phone and check on my pace to be sure I was meeting my goal time of two hours and fifteen minutes. I noticed my husband had called my so I rang him up. He told me he was looking for me and didn’t see me but I was just up the road so I ran back to meet him. Surprised he had come all that way on bike up a hill to meet up with me on my run I was excited.
We kept on our run/bike talking about some shit and deciding where we need to move and what not. On mile nine and a half or so I looked down to my left in some landscaping beauty bark and saw a beautiful Morel growing so I stopped to pick it and scanned for more. No more morels were found and we continued along.
When I got to mile eleven I really felt like I was starting to slow down and could feel it in my body a bit. It wasn’t too bad so I pushed through and finished the run feeling fantastic! All in all I would definitely love to run a long distance on mushrooms again. Perhaps next time I will try a higher dose and opt in to more trail running but even with road running I can clear my mind which made it easy to really get in tune with the mushroom. I did not feel like this was a dangerous thing to attempt and I only experienced some confusion on what street I was on for a brief moment. Definitely would recommend this to anybody interested.

wow what a coincidence I read this today after my own little running excursion through the woods on a low dose of shrooms. I ran XC in high school and was decently good, despite struggling with asthma. However, during my jog this morning air filled my lungs like never before. I felt amazing zooming around the wooded trails up and down hills, enjoying the scenery all the while. I couldn't help but think about how an earlier introduction to psilocybin may have impacted my running career.

Check out discussions of The Stoned Ape Theory; Paul Stamets is the current advocation, following on from Terence McKenna. Different doses led to different psychedlic experiences; at lower doses, the first effect is heightened eyesight, better hunters. Hence the theory that mushrooms led to a rapid expansion of the size of the brain and evolution of the human race. I’m sure you could draw lots of links to your experiences running on mushrooms.
