Hi everyone,
I currently have a nice little patch of subs that I have growing in my backyard:

The problem is, however, that slugs keep getting into them, they keep getting too dry or something and dying, it's not big enough for my liking, I am now getting other mushrooms appearing:

So I want to transfer them to a more controlled environment, say a tub of woodchips/soil outside that I can place copper around and control the moisture of a lot easier, make sure they are the only myc in there, etc.
Since the mushrooms rarely make it to maturity, I have had very few chances of getting some good spores to use for inoculation, so instead I have been trying to grow the myc on some agar from the mushrooms... The problem is that I have no clue what I am doing and I end up getting nasty contaminants long before the myc can settle in:

(even little things like stopping the condensation on the lid I do not know how to fix, I am completely new to agar).
So my question is, should I keep trying agar, or is there a simpler way to get the myc to grow in my new substrate -- making sure it is the only thing growing there, and doing so without damaging my current little natural patch?

Use some stem butts from harvested fruits or a few pieces of colonized woodchips to wet cardboard to get some mycelium going. You could then clean it up on agar or just keep expanding to more cardboard/woodchips and then into your containers.

No I think that is some other mould... You can see the actual sub myc growing out of the mushroom gills here

and you can see it is very thick and white. The other stuff is a much wispier growth, and it is growing very very fast (I think it's been four days for it to get to this stage):

If I am wrong then I would love to be corrected... But in my very amateur opinion I don't think that fast stuff is the sub myc

Yeah, probably mold. Maybe wait another day and take transfer from that clean growth you have?

that chunk to the left of "P" you can cut out off this agar and put to another dish right now before anything gets over there to it.
id take a sample to annother dish of that 3oclock spot too - I think its worth a dish to see if thats just whispy myc. unless you watched it spread like 3x speed of everything else. then its contam. contams are generally way faster like noticably faster than myc.
something from outside is likely going to have some sort of unwanted shit on it you have to just keep hacking pieces until you get a clean one. I wouldnt blame technique on something from out of environment, but do try to stay from over the tops of the dishes - try to keep hands to either sides of the dish while you work, and only the work product and a blade tip maybe over the dish. as little as possible over the dish. and close it as soon as possible.
on the moisture of the dish: this will probably cause some debate (good) but I say keep them lid down agar up (upside down) and put a wrap of saran wrap or electrical tape around the side for a seal. you can then collect the moisture, peel back an edge of your tape, and drain it off.
if the condenstation is from an agar self-pour, its probably just sweat. if the condensation is later post-pour or in a premade plate, its the moisture of the agar itself, and you need to control your environment, and it will make the agar shrink and dry up.

Ok cool, I'll move that bit over asap.
Is has grown very fast, so I'm guessing that it's contamination.
The condensation is definitely from the pour, it steams up quite a bit... It is quite cold where I live, hence the subs growing in the wild.
