Lol that’s awesome eat. I’m surprised the molds didn’t fruit.
Those are Burma??? I love those man the young ones look like PE and the huge ones look exactly like the Malabar coast vendor pics with the small flat caps with the veil attached I was hoping for when I did mine.

UPDATE: 1As promised I did actually get some time in on this. I intended to yesterday, and somehow starting the process turned into completely re-arranging my grow room and beginning to build a new flowhood. Anyways, I got out the ol' wreath making wire, some gutter screening and a few hand tools and got to doing this bitch. So I decided to roll up the mesh to a few inches smaller in diameter and quickly shaped it into a rough sphere. A few twists of wire here and there to hold it in shape.I initially was going to just do a single piece but ended up doing a patch on the bottom as well. Also twisted on a longer length that will protrude out the top as my hanger wire.
Got me spawn ready to go.I bored through the top with a hole saw to provide access for filling the top side of the mold, I wish I had gone with a larger hole saw as it was a little bit of a PITA filling but all in all not too bad. Also drilled some alignment holes and inserted some machine screws so I can clamp the two halves together. They are cut pretty rough after molding so there no real key to hold them together...they also are not meant for this lol.Not entirely sure how sculpt-able the substrate was going to be, I opted to try spraying a bit of water as I went and It actually complied to my needs very nicely. I put in a nice bedding layer to the bottom mold to center the mesh in the middle of the mold ( Im possibly counting too much on the myc holding the outer layer together) and then placed the center "scaffold". I also put in some saran wrap first in case the myc wants to stick hard to the mold. Filling 'er up!This is pretty much it after clamping the top half on and stuffing spawn in the hole. C'mon side pins, try me now bitch. I then put a layer of saran over the top half and closer her up! Ill be keeping an eye on this for the coming week and will most likely be taking off the top half for some air as soon as the colonizing is holding the sub together sufficiently. Its a pretty heavy mofo , so im hoping the inner structure is going to be sound enough to hold the weight...my calculations suspect it will be just fine. Also had enough spawn leftover to do another shoebox....cuz just 10 is not enough. Stay tuned for next update!!! cast your votes now. Success or major failstorm? (no feelings will be hurt, flame suit donned.)

That’s like three times the size I was expecting, gonna be bad ass.
How much spawn actually ended up in that beast?

My typical perfect quantity ended up leftover for a shoe-box and I started with 4...so essentially 3~ Qts spawn. And I fill my jars fuller than most folks cuz not a wuss about shaking.

Just a bit of fun sphere facts I worked out on this:
The surface area of this "cake" works out to ~2.2 square feet!
The tubs I typically use, at the sub depth i use them gives me a surface area of ~1.5 square feet.
Two of these spheres will fit comfy side by side within said tub, 4.4 square feet in the same vessel footprint.
If this does actually work (ahem....) this idea would provide 300% of the fruiting surface per tub.
Run 4 tubs, but have 12 tubs worth of area working for you...
I didn't really care if this worked before, but now my affinity for efficiency really hopes it isn't terrible. The work involved is minor and the space savings alone would be a game changer.
I realize there are other ways, don't bore me with your practicality.

Wouldn't that extra surface area just cause it to dry out faster

Well if you keep it in the mold until it starts pinning to reduce the time it’s susceptible to drying out or maybe put a layer perlite in the bottom and have like 3 pronged stands, drying out shouldn’t be a problem
The one thing I can see about it is that you may want to rotate the spheres so that gravity doesn’t pull all the water to one hemisphere or another.. maybe once a day

Put it on a spitroast to get that humidity distributed evenly as well as even pinset and straight growth.

What about finding a large hamster ball to put your balls in. Then you can roll them around in the tub so your getting FaE on all sides and even out the surface moisture?
