Cake contamination
    #26630081 - 04/26/20 02:55 PM (3 years, 9 months ago)

I am on my 3rd flush and even 4th with some of these golden teacher cakes. Looks like they have some growth on some of them. Blue and green maybe. Anyway, it could be nothing. Would be curious to hear others feedback if they think these are contaminated and the mushrooms growing from them could harm you, or if it’s fine. Pictures attached. Thanks.

It's hard to tell from the color of the light in the photos but it
just looks like blue bruising which is normal in an old cake. Contamination
on a cake doesn't mean the fruits will hurt you that's an old tall tale.
Only contaminated fruits can make you sick, no different than any rotten
vegetables. Don't eat a rotten moldy vegetable and you'll be ok.

Here are some more pictures of the same cakes. What are your opinions on the way these fruits look? If they are black and blue and look rotten, should we discard them? Some look completely rotten while others look like parts are turning. Thanks.

The blue coloring is just bruising  and is normal on an old cake.

They've shrank a lot and is normal as nutrients and water are used up.

If the fruits are still growing bigger every day then cool but if they've
stopped then it might be the end on the road for them. But you've gotten
multiple flushes from them, they don't owe you anything, so congratulations!

Those are some itty bitty cakes!

EDIT> Ready the post again, didn't see you said these were 3-4 flushes in. Time to toss em in the garden my friend, cover em with dirt or compost/manure if possible and see if you'll get another couple fruits.
