Does anyone know what temperature is optimal for psilocybin mushroom growth in the wild? i.e. what does the temperature need to drop below in order for psilocybe spp to start growing quickly

Quick observation at previous season patches. Just small pickings so early into the season.

Slim pickings in the bay too. Tiny subs coming up in ones and twos. Surprised by a mild frost this morning at sea level! Ton of rain on the way. Pretty dismal so far. Patches with 100+ last year producing only a few small ones.

Hi guys. I just landed in NZ 4 months ago. Was worried I might not find anything but after scoping out a lot of spots one of the ones I felt good about 6 weeks ago just popped. And there were lots of pulled out clumps of myc nearby. I’m really hopeful I can make some more decent hauls. I’m probably going to eat all of these my self in the full moon tonight. Cheers and thank you New Zealand! Location: inside a large town in north end of South Island. 15 feet from a residence. An abandoned garden, 10 foot from compost pile. Wood chips covered with grass. I honestly only put in about 30 minutes hunting in town areas since the rains. Past couple days I spent several hours looking for libs in sheep and horse fields. I found 2 that looked really close but without bluing I couldn’t confirm. Have heard talk that they exist here so I will probably keep looking for those as well.

Patch in the BOP has been going nuts since the end of March. This is the third big flush. I'm hoping it will keep on keeping on for a while yet.

Yup, enough for me and my girl. But let me tell you, the pickings are mighty thin still. The three locations I have uncovered any this year are quite exposed. So the temperature is presumably slightly lower than the immediately surrounding areas (where I know a lot more will eventually emerge). Being peppered with scrub and shrubbery (which not only acts as thermal insulation and buffers the wind, also acts similarly to an umbrella, stopping light showers and rain from easily penetrating the undergrowth. You know... The microclimate theory Blazer mentioned is precisely what I'm talking about.
I left the juvenile pins, harvested 9 grams of very vigorously healthy specimens. 6 grm for me, 3 for her, give or take. It's enough. Carpe diem. Going to imbibe fairly soon, and watch the sunrise by the ocean with the king tide and the full moon, to be sure, to be sure. Such a peaceful night, I expect the surface of the water to be a mirror with that nice undulation effect that the gentle ebbing of the tide brings (even without OEV's, but even better with).

Heading out soon to check the west ak patches. . . Wish me luck. . .
EDIT: epic 'nothing to report' so dry, only incidental fungus were a few puffballs. . .
