If you need large capacity have you thought of building a steamer from a 55-gallon drum?

I like the time and fuel savings of using a pressure vessel for grain spawn.
For doing low pressure steaming of bulk substrate I have acquired a stainless steel vat that was used for dyeing fabrics, I will hook it up to a modified pressure cooker, hopefully it will work.
I am checking out your tek though, thx for replying.

I only use my PC for grain and agar also. But I made a hot plate from and old stove and I run my PC from a PID. So I don't have to monitor it. The PID keeps it at the right temp. If I am doing agar I have it set up to sound an alarm when the temp drops to 140F. So I know it is ready to pour. It makes it so easy having it set up this way and it is less time-consuming. You can buy a stove burner kit from amazon for about $20 if you can't find an old stove. It costs me about 50 cents to run my PC for 3.5 hours and about $1.80 to run my steamer for 12 hours. So the PID saves a lot of cash in the long run.

Stainless steel is nice but I just use a steel drum. It has lasted 3 years so far without a leak. When I have to replace the drum I will paint the drum with silicon and it should last 10 years then.
