Post-Dunk: Is this normal? 1

Ia this normal or did I mess up somewhere? There appears to be like a gelatinous film on a couple of them. They do not smell bad. I dunked for 12 hours. I figure that could be from knocking the aborts off?

Ive read up on the gelatinous material this evening. Reports seem to have stated that this happens sometimes post-dunk. Speculation is that aerial myc causes it when dunking. It almost looks like a protective layer. I will check in the morning and report back as to whether it comes off. Reports stated that cakes continue into fruiting with no issues, and eventually recover.
As far as the blue'ing, I may have manhandled the cakes. Its been 10 years since ive done this. When taking the aborts off of the cake, I gentle brushed my hand over them with a little force when necessary. Probably caused bruising.
Im not going to throw them away yet. The color blue, more than it is anything else, which leads me to believe my suspicions are right. The cakes also smell like normal mushies... Healthy mycelium still. And the blue'ing did not occur this bad until I stuck them in their 2nd flush dunk in clean water. I guess ill find out in the morning if the sgfc stinks or not.

In there interest of being thorough for anybody searching for answers in the future, here are some pictures approximately 52 hours later. The cakes are recovering, it seems. White mycelium is growing back out over the gel and it looks like I see what's probly blue aborts in the verm. Maybe some pinning, or maybe just what I missed first flush growing out. Idk.
I've been misting and fanning regularly, keeping a favorable environment for it like I've been doing the entire time. Everything still smells like fresh mushies, even if it isn't all white and pretty... No idea if that's still a bad thing or not. Lol. Let me know.

That cake in the second pic could be trich.. that’s what trich looks like right before it sporelates but I’ve also seen myc look like that too.. you’ll know for sure in a day or two.. it’ll turn green if it’s trich

Thanks, I've been keeping an eye on it... I don't want it to shit all over the rest of the sgfc if it is.

I would quarantine that slimey cake ASAP. Gallon baggies work well.

Are you talking about the one in the second pic? It's not so much slimey as it is just.... blue-hued. These photos were taken after misting, which might make them appear "slimey." #4 and 6 *seem* to this inexperienced grower to be recovering well, and they were the ones with the slime on them initially. It may not hurt to quarantine it to be safe, though.

Ok, I see. It looks like slime in the photo. Must be an photo artifact of some kind
I would quarantine it, just to be safe.

Noted, I happen to have a baggy sitting right here and time on my hands. I assume I just take the lid it is sitting on and stick it inside, mist, and seal? Then burp it daily until I am sure it is not contaminated? I will update with progress in a couple days.

Dont seal the bag. Leave it partially open. Or you can close it mostly and pokes in it. Still needs FAE. If you have micropore tape, thatd be perfect as you can have FAE and clean air outside the bag.

The cakes in pictures 2 and 3 were removed, bagged, and thrown away. Looking at them up close, I could see the green trich growing into the white mycelium. Neither was starting to pin, as opposed to the other 4 that are currently pinning in the sgfc as of this morning. They recovered well, the other 2 did not. Sad, but at least all is not lost.
I am eager for my coir to get here so I can try to spawn this 9er tek jar to a shoebox.
