Metal Blender Balls in LC jars
    #26651778 - 05/05/20 09:35 PM (3 years, 9 months ago)

I was just wondering if anybody ever used a metal blender ball like you find in sport drink bottles in an LC jar instead of a magnetic stir-bar or glass?

I have one and tried it eith LI. I think it would help shake an LC when you need to.

Yeah it would probably break up an LC by shaking.

I prefer a stir plate though. You don't need any kind of special lid for your LC because you don't need to break it up. SFD, polyfill etc will work fine.

I actually use an eberbach to blend my agar wedge in water first and use that to inoculate my LC broth and set on stir plate. The LC is fully grown in about 3 days.

They worked really well for me when I used quart jars for my LC. I moved to smaller jars since I don't inoculate more than 10-12 jars at a time and they don't fit anymore.
