I’m assuming you didn’t mean to respond to me as I had already mentioned what you just did.

Went for a walk today and found this patch - will create another thread to confirm id (*edit - now confirmed) but I am pretty sure - this is my first find this year! This one is from the western suburbs of Melbourne, I think they might grow here a bit later than eastern suburbs.

Gonna head up to one of my regular spots today.
I have a good feeling about it, the weather has been good for it lately. Here's hoping I find something. If not, the beautiful walk will be worth it nonetheless. If I have any luck I'll be sure to share my finds.
Hope things are going good for everyone else.

Fair enough. People are always going to pick pins no matter what people say. People are always going to pick mushrooms and throw them around and kick mushrooms around too. Doesnt mean, the more experienced people of the highly esteemed mushroom picking community of the Shroomery should encourage it, or at least be indifferent to it. Melbourne has a shit load of subs, i can say freely without any shadow of a doubt, more than anywhere in the world. So you are good. Here in Adelaide its not that easy. Ive just hunted 12-15 hours without a sub. It is much harder here, and if people are encouraged to pick when they are mature that means more spore dispersal and a better chance that there will be more for everyone in the end.
Couldn't agree with this more...
in other news, totally in love with the new dehydrator, don't subs just look so goood when dried.

Went for a leisurely walk the other day and spotted this amanita and a couple subs in the garden beds of a very prestigious private school, haha

Keep up the great finds ppl.

Finally made my first finds around the inner north after a whole lot of searching!

 http://
Looks like there'll be a lot more to come from this patch but I want to take a trip up to Mount Macedon for some forest foraging in June. Maybe bring back some spores to spread around.

Hey guys,
Just introducing myself to a few fellow victorians. I've noticed heaps of amanita in the parks near my house (south eastern suburbs). Decided to make an account and potentially start some hunting.
Fingers crossed for some fruitful walks in the near future

I’ve migrated back to Melbourne for probably what’s going to be a long while to come.. Decided to check out some Spots with a friend in the Eastern suburbs. Was real surprised to see them out in full force already along with L.ceres. They’re just everywhere. If they weren’t already picked dry some of the known patches had some fruiting here and there. With one or two being rather prolific. Though there was a habitat that we’ve never checked before, had a look through and found a bounty of chunky looking subs. A lot closer to home too.. No it situ photos though, it was way too public the whole way through.
So many people out, so many pickers about. Spotted at least a dozen or so others also on the hunt today. Have fun and stay safe. Melbourne really is booming with subs right now.

Today went well I just found more of these in one spot then I found last year throughout the entire season.
Found 2 inactives amongst this after I got back. They are those little flaky bastards that look like subs, but clearly aren't when you look close. I always make sure to double check and spore print anything I find.

Been 2 times this season and both times had a great haul. Last time I went my kfc paper bag was that full it was tearing open in all different spots had to hold it like a baby 🤣 found some big patches bit I notice most of the bigger shrooms I find are all ruined I come across good patches but lots are unpickable. How does everyone store your shrooms for the year. Last year I dried in dehydrator and then put them in jars with desiccant pouches, after about 6-12 months they became Abit squishy again maybe the jars weren't airtight enough . Would anyone recommend vacuumed swing them ? I hear some people freeze them too how do you go about that ? Thanks in advance !url=https://files.shroomery.org/files/20-19/868345995-IMG20200504172607.jpg][image]http://www.shroomery.org/forums/thumbs/20-19/8683

I've been thinking about it, and I've come to the conclusion that I strongy oppose the picking of pins under any circumstances. I used to think there were circumstances where it could be justified, but not anymore. "It's wrong."

Hey Happy Hunters!
I see the forum has kicked off in the usual fashion, lol. Please be nice to each other during these difficult times. We are all after the same glory!
Its awesome to see some great finds by the community in general! It certainly creates hope and excitement for those of us who are yet to get out there.
I personally have not been able to go for a hunt yet this season due to my work, but I cant wait to get out there and document my exploits I Cant wait to share some epic pics with you all ASAP!
Please take care of yourselves and each other.
The one thing I have always been amazed by, and proud to be a part of, is the level of support and advice provided to all members by the shroomery community as a whole.
Keep being awesome people!!!

Doesn’t hurt to ask but do any of you guys know any good spots around the otways? I’ve stumbled across 1 or 2 but they have been heavily hunted. Thanks in advance

First time hunting this year and up til now have only been able to find a few wet grams at a time, went for a walk a few suburbs away from me and found this patch, left the tiny ones to grow and hopefully another batch will come in a couple of days.
