Oat water content prep question

So 70% is what we're going for right?
I've made a few batches of oats by now. Nocc'd up a few and ones been spawned and so far so good. One contam (entirely my fault lol), one little jar just didn't colonise at all. One going strong and healthy.
Each time I hydrate my grain I weigh it out dry, work out the weight it should be after the boil (dry weight + 70%) and then heat up the pan of water to a hard boil, the water level will be about 1.5"-2" above the grain level when they're introduced to the pan. I have varied my timing from 25 minutes to 20 minutes, my grains should be roughly 640 but come out 780+, indicating too long and over hydrated (but as stated have gone on to work just fine).
Today, I decided to drop the time down to just 15 minutes, I weighed 360 grams dry and aimed for 612 once finished. I hit 748. Surely a ten minute boil is too quick?
Any pointers at all? Even just some info or experience with oats, how forgiving are they and what are the real problems that can occur from over hydrated oats?

No one using oats anymore then?
Just nocc'd a couple grain jars with agar pins, don't know what got into me but it was fucking amateur hour over here, everything I did I just thought 'why the fuck did I do that?' but ah well live and learn and I'll see how they go!
My ms agar tub on the other hand is about three days in and colonising nicely so huge hopes to that being.. well fruitful

I use WBS that is 90% oats and 10% wheat. My process is fairly simple, I soak for 24 hours, rinse, and drain. The spread out the grains, mixing them every hour until the surface is dry (no longer sticks to a dry hand, but still squash easily between fingers). I tried boiling to get to a specific moisture content but kept failing and ending up with either burst grains after sterilisation or dry grains by half way through colonisation. The way I use now leaves me with a perfect moisture content after a 90 min pressure cook, and minima burst grains.

The main issue with initial over hydration is that after sterilisation you'll be left with lots of burst grains that tend to clump and turn to mush. However, I actually find Oats more forgiving than millet or popcorn.

Ah ha of course, I hadn't considered drying them like that.. now that I think of it I'm weighing them directly after a cool rinse post boil and I'm likely weighing a large amount of water clinging onto the grain as apposed to its content.
Thanks very much for your reply, I didn't even know wbs had oats inside let alone that much. The tips you mention for the draining period are great.
In fairness, I have very clean oats and they also almost never burst, I get the odd 'porridged' oats once they come out the pc but nothing that will cause any issues. They certainly stay hydrated throughout the colonisation period also (I thought too wet sometimes) they are clearly moist against the jars. I read within a prep tek that tucking in the foil around the rim of the tub you intend to pc with the grain stops any porridge'ing of the oats as it will stop the water entering the tubs, I put that down to why they survive the pc cycle as well as they do; I only ever notice a small amount of mush oats.
All in all with my limited experience I feel they are generally forgiving which is preferable in a grain. I really appreciate your response, Amino.

Hello there reader, I have a question in regards to a shoebox I have colonising which rather than create a whole new thread just going to ask here and hope someone is kind enough to through some of that experience my way.
Basically its day four after spawning and after mixing and casing in a thin layer of coir I heavily (good twenty seconds) sprayed from my mister the top layer of coir to encourage the pinning of the surface once fully colonised, however, today I read about someone actively spraying their sub throughout the colonisation process and when I checked on my box a few moments ago (first time cracked it open to take a peak) the surface to my inexperienced eye did seem on the dry side. Colonisation appears to be going swimmingly and the top layer is showing multiple areas of colonisation.
Is it advisable to just leave it alone and let it do its thing considering all sides of the tub have retained their small droplets without any need to respray since the initial soaking I gave at spawn or give that top layer a thorough seeing to with the spray bottle?
