Allenii? Probably Ovoids
    #26651173 - 05/05/20 04:28 PM (3 years, 9 months ago)

Long time, no post fellow mushroom enthusiasts. While on a walk today, a small patch of LBM’s caught my eye and looked to have that psilocybe brown caps that we have all come to know and love. Now, they look to be Allenii but knowing the type of season it is, they are most likely ovoideocystidiatas. I will let you judge for yourself. I didn’t collect a spore print as I am not planning on consuming these. More just of curiosities sake. I am not sure if the color will show up in the pictures but I did inspect one fruit’s stem and the very minor veil remnant that remained was stained green/blue. And by minor I mean barely anything at all. Anyway, here you are.

I would call those Galerina.

That's not a psilocybe

I was thinking galerinas too the gills are too orange.

Edit: Stem is also wrong.

I beg to differ fellas. If not Allenii then it’s a hard ovoideocystidiata. I’ve seen these before, exact same ones, and consumed before. Striated margin, dark cinnamon gills, and you cannot see in the picture, but the white whispy veil remnant was green/blue stained. I have seen many psilocybe stems like that. Galerina stems have more of a yellowish tinge to them

Meh, it’s been a while. They very well may be galerinas. But I swear I’ve seen ovoids in the same environment looking the exact same way. The only tell was the blue stained veil remnant

Yes all the same mushroom. Galerinas have hygrophanous caps.  And can grow in the same areas

I’m in the galerina camp as well.

Which is why I issue strong warnings to anyone trying to learn to hunt actives. Galerinas are all over my local ovoid habitats and sometimes in close proximity to the ovoids. You really need to take the time and care to positively ID every single specimen if there is any chance anyone will consume.

Yeah, knew those were galerina within seconds, I just edited my post because I spelled it wrong at first.

I was praying that this guy didn't eat them either!

This is no hobby for amateurs that's for sure!

Not that he is, just be careful out there fellas
