Are you depleted after Shroom psilocybin experience?
    #26649227 - 05/04/20 09:32 PM (3 years, 9 months ago)

I created this in attempt to combat this issue. Currently still working out the kinks. But please post your symptoms and what you have tried to combat this.

1. Are shrooms part of your weekly diet
2 how often you eat them
3. What have you tried to combat this
4 any other information that may be informative

I have been eating them every couple weeks and have always felt depleted.

I tried Kratom for the first time to combat the anxiety and depression on the come down. Sometimes the come down last a day or so. I think it’s a result of a depletion of serotonin after the fact.

When I tried Kratom it delayed the the come down and I felt pretty good. However today is the second  day since the mushrooms and usually it’s gone by now, however not for me. I feel lethargic and depressed. The Kristi’s making me
Nauseous today because I think I took to much will be lowering my dose tomorrow to see if that helps

Yes, just keep taking your break.  Smoke if you like.  Idk about Kratom helping tho.

The anxiety and stuff will go away.  Sometimes your brain just needs time to process things.

Yea I think there is some truth to that. I walked for 5mile and it was
An amazing experience on shrooms then got home couldn’t eat much for two days.
Took some Kratom next day felt
Amazing and hiked another four miles but couldn’t eat. Today my body gave out and I felt as tho I needed some nutrition so I ate a ton hoping that will give me the boost I need for tomorrow morning

On the contrary, I normally feel totally amazing after shrooms. There's a really strong afterglow for me, lasting quite a while after the trip is over (depending on dose), but especially the next day.

Now LSD on the other hand, that leaves me feeling drained the next day.

I also haven't done mushrooms in probably 7-8 years or something.

1. Only microdoseing once or twice a week.
2. 10-14 day space between trips.
3. Next day after glow,  second day I get the exhausted/depression. Microdoseing the second day has seemed to help.
4. Microdoseing and just trying to adjust my mental state or attitude by doing something I enjoy.

If there is significant mystical wonder and a heavy sacred feel or large catharsis I feel revitalized.  A few hours after the comedown after the trip I usually feel a comfortable exhaustion and have a deep sleep.  That’s something I like about it too.  Other times this doesn’t happen.

With so much sensory info and cns stimulation from the drug it’s only natural.  Using Kratom to deal with a psychedelic comedown, if done repeatedly or long enough. Will just lead to one being conditioned possibly dependent upon taking that plant .  It has opi-narcotic alkaloids in it, so... kinda counterproductive when ones a psychonaught or something or other.

If it's a couple grams, just enough to have a good time and "get away", I usually dont feel too off or tired afterwards. After a mind shattering trip I need a full day to recover physically and mentally.
I only use them when I get an itch to trip....maybe 10 times a year. I like to use a few grams of kratom on the come down of big trips only and for no other reason that I get sleepy and can get decent rest. Lots of fluids, fruits, and carbohydrates help me get some of that energy back though.

I think even a couple grams, there are lingering effects just really subtle.

I tend to just accept the lack of sleep, especially taking blotter after lunchtime.  Probably in those cases, sleep deprivation has a lot to do with the after effects, but even when I tripped in the mornings I noticed it took a good day for my serotonin to reset and everything to feel completely normal.

IME getting extra nutrition in after a shroom trip, or any trip, is super important. The higher the dose, the more good stuff you need - green smoothies, anti-oxidants, simple protein shakes, loads of water, you name it.

I once tripped on 4g while hypoglycemic from fasting + exercising. Probably the roughest trip I've had and felt very mentally fragile for a few days afterwards. Haven't experienced this again since i started eating super healthy on trip days though. And after particularly heavy doses i actually take the rollsafe.org supplement cocktail just for good measure. Now i mainly just get pleasant afterglows.

Someone correct me on this if I'm wrong, but kratom is a norepinephrine/serotonin/dopamine agonist - and your brain down-regulates those "feel good" transmitters when it wears off. Combined with the exertion from the trip, this may leave you feeling extra drained.

Taking a longer break and buffing up your baseline physical and mental health inbetween trips will probably also go a long way.

I've never had that problem, no matter the frequency (sometimes daily).  When quitting a long binge there is a period of reduced affect (flatter response to emotional stimuli) but it passes in a few days as tolerance abates.  Well worth it and it's the closest thing to a hangover they produce.

Sounds like you'd benefit from being more fit when you go into it.  Makes a huge difference. Maybe get more sleep too... :cookiemonster:

I don't think hypoglycemia can occur from fasting or exercise. You need to have pre-existing hormonal problems. Your body is possible of producing glucose without eating.

Also, I had the opposite experience with fasting. Did a 300ug LSD trip on day 3 of a 3 day fast, had a good time for the most part but was very drained after. Had a good rest and I felt great the next day.

That sounds nice and comfy.  A good deep sleep after an otherworldly trip is the best.

I hate it when people say "fast before a shroom trip". Worst advice ever. I want to slap whoever suggested that myth that dumbasses still believe to this day.

"Ohhhhhh if you don't fast before eating shrooms you wont feel them" LMFAO SHUT THE FUCK UP!!!

I'll only do ever eat shrooms on a full stomach.

I get angry enough when I'm sober and I don't eat. I don't fuck with fasting. I fuck with eating..
:lolsy:

In my experience, I'll either get an afterglow or a comedown from a mushroom trip. It can go either way.

I'll either be depleted or fell really really good and euphoric after the trip. It can go either way if you ask me..

I too like to fuck with eating

A good fast now and then can do wonders for ones health. Though with taking psychs fasted i'm guessing you should probably wait until you're in full ketosis and not feeling so crappy anymore before dosing. That was probably the mistake i made with that pear-shaped trip. And i should qualify that i was just saying 'hypoglycemic' to sound more intelligent than i actually am, basically just meant low blood sugar from the fasted exercising (feeling weak/light headed and such)

I've never felt that way after a mushroom trip...

The way I feel during the end of a trip and the days after is the ABSOLUTE opposite of feeling depleted/anxious/depressed/lethargic in every way. During the come up with mushrooms specifically I do tend to feel quite lethargic and anxious and a bit depressed and cold and just in a lowly head-space in general. I'm usually laying down while curled up in a ball for the first hour or so lol, but that all fades away after 2 hours or so and during the 2nd phase and ending of the trip I feel the contrary of that.

During the tail end of a mushroom trip is the absolute best feeling ever for me, like if there was one "state of mind/being" I could permanently be in it would be how I feel during the end of a mushroom trip. I feel like the best and sharpest version of myself. Crystal clear headed, enhanced cognition, sharp all around, confident, alive, re-charged. I feel energized like no other and feel like I have endless amounts of energy/stamina, I feel on top of the world and like I can accomplish anything.

And during the days after a trip I almost always have a lovely lingering after glow. I experience a positive impact lasting for about a month after a trip where my typical anxieties and depression are reduced dramatically.

Mushrooms do not deplete serotonin, at all, in anyway.

I don't know why so many people think psychedelics do this. They are serotonergic but they do not cause any sort of depletion/loss of serotonin.

What sort of dosage do you normally take?...And what sort of setting are you in and what do you normally do while tripping?

Same here.

I never understood why "fasting before dosing" is thrown out as advice so often. Fasting before dosing does not bring any benefit to the experience for me. It doesn't help with nausea and dosing on a totally empty stomach/gut actually creates more potential for a stomach load/nausea for me.

It does not make for a drastically stronger experience, if one wants to get farther out then just eat another gram or two.

This only creates more potential for nausea/stomach load for me (though mushrooms almost never bother my stomach).

This causes my blood sugar to be low, creates far more potential for fainting because of low BP (something that's kinda common with mushrooms)

With little sugar & nutrition in my system I'm in a sleepy/out of it headspace and get anxious more easily.

Just all around I never understood why people suggest fasting before dosing...Unless one is doing it for "spiritual"/ritualistic reasons, I just don't get it.

I don't like to dose on a full stomach/right after eating a meal (though I have before), but I always have a meal at some point in the day before dosing and almost always eat a little something shortly before and/or shortly after dosing.

And a lot of people that claim they "fast" before dosing don't even actually do a proper fast....Lots of folks say they just don't eat during the day they plan on dosing, that's just going a several hours/part of a day with out eating and to me that is not a fast at all  . A fast to me is 24+ hours with out eating anything, ideally 3 to 5 days.

The whole fasting before dosing should be modified to say “ evacuate your bowels “.

To me, there’s nothing like having any dose of a trip later in the day after having a fully complete poop, leaving me empty and feeling light and unencumbered.

Haha, maybe that’s just me   But it feels godly and good vs being borderline full of poo while tripping.

The body load is different to me, it’s kinder and better.  I don’t like to eat a ton before I trip, but I don’t like to regularly fast either, although sometimes that can be okay.  Being relatively empty is awesome.

Even non-diabetics can go hypoglycaemic; it’s rare, but it can happen. The problem is the liver which stores glycogen - 2 molecules of glucose. When the pancreas detects a drop in blood sugar, it kick starts the liver into breaking down the glycogen stores and releasing glucose into the bloodstream.

In diabetics, if the liver is busy with its other purpose, breaking down toxins in the bloodstream, such as alcohol or mushrooms, it can’t perform its secondary function of releasing glucose. Hence “hypos” are more serious if you’re under the influence of something.

I don’t see why this can’t happen to non-diabetics when tripping with an already low blood sugar from fasting.

Now I have type 1 diabetes. But I always make sure I have an empty stomach by not eating anything heavy 3 hours before a trip. If I’m working, I’ll have a sandwich in the morning and at lunch, the dose at tea time. I use mushroom tea, and always rinse my glass out with approx 100ml of orange juice. Gets rid of the taste, and gives enough energy for the next 4 hours. I always have perfect blood sugars this way
