Running my dehydrator all night
    #26649182 - 05/04/20 09:06 PM (3 years, 8 months ago)

So I picked my first fruits this evening and threw them in my dehydrator automatically. Thing is, it's going to take a really long time. How safe is it to run them all night? Can I turn it off and start it back up in the morning? Is there a safer way to dry them out? There's no real hurry.

I run mine overnight all the time.  I did a trail run on the garage concrete floor to make sure it didn’t get too hot.

Maybe I'll do that. Clear a space in my garage.

It makes me nervous...

I've run mine for a few days at a time when drying whole peppers. It'll be fine. They were made for this very thing

Yea iv literally ran my two prestos for 7 days straight. You learn how to stagger your spawn so you don't have 2 or 3 lb to do all at once lol. But they are both still running just fine. I wouldn't worry about it.

They don't get that hot, and probably have thermal protections so if the fan breaks or a stack of papers falls on top of the unit and there's no air running over the heating element, the unit will shut down. I say probably because I don't know for sure but for liability purposes I'm sure they all incorporate such safety features.

I run 4 nutriware aromas on 158f at all all hours of a day. These have digital timers though.

In the past ive ran 7 salton pro round dehydrators simulatanously with some cheapy no fan units too non stop for over a week.

Just dont use same circuits for multiple dehydrators.

Never lost sleep or had a problem. Have left the house for days with dehydrators without timers on 130f setting or lower.

Its as safe as any other appliance if ran properly.

Running it overnight is fine. Don't start and stop.

Got through the night with no issues. I did wake up once out of worry, but that was it. What I'll start doing is picking first thing in the morning so it can run during the day. Either my wife or myself will always be there just to keep an eye.
