It may not be ideal for you but I just use the tip of a syringe.
If cost is the main concern you could just use a razor blade.

I use one of those breakable blade knifes. Shrooms seem to be hard on knives and I prefer breaking the blade off when it's bad.

just search "mushroom knife" on amazon, you're bound to see something you like. I like the curved blades but I usually use scissors for harvesting. best to sharpen your existing knives before buying a new one tho

Never got into cutting to harvest. Still like the ole twist n pull method.
On another note, I finally got a chance to try out my new impulse sealer. Works great for a cheap $26 piece of crap . Nice even, strong seal. Paid the extra $4 for a lifetime warranty, so if it breaks I can get a new one for free.

@camera, specific what? I just saw "tubs" and "pounds" on what looked like regular text and my butthole tightened.
Edit: oh, sealer. AIE-405HIM 16" Handheld Heat - Impulse Bag Sealer w/ 5mm Seal & Holding Magnet
People get the biopsy out with a scalpel, as shown by d3monic the circles stay in the dish.

Obsesive compulsive disorder. I'd probably try to flame them together so that could be avoided.
Check out d3monics grow (mostly agar) log for visual satisfaction.
