No worries Bob,
Some of the lower lying ground which was facing away from sunrise is looking greener/wetter but just needs a little time to really kick things off.

A few nice edibles, Aminitas and plenty of bored new hunters in the hills last weekend! Anyone know what the tall black sucker is called?

I thought it looked interesting too. Ent has it right. It's an inch ant nest though usually the nests I encounter are just plain clay or covered in pebbles. This colony is very artistic.

Saffies! Nice haul! Those are big slipperies, are the bigger ones better? I've found the smaller saffies pack a bit more flavour than the big ones.

Hey all, has anyone heard of finding subs in the mid north area? Been out on a few hikes recently and found some amazing looking mushrooms. A few pine plantations lurking around as well which id like to get out to and have a look around.

Hi all,
I recently joined the forum and have been reading a lot of your posts and threads and wanted to thank you all for being such a sharing and cool community.
Last week I went walking around the hills and saw a lot of non active shrooms. I want to go out this weekend again, do you think this weekend will be good for hunting?

Hey mate, every weekend is good for hunting. Get the lay of the land. Mark down some spots that look promising, and keep going back to them throughout the season.
It's still early days, and none of my known spots are fruiting yet (north), but you never know your luck. Plus walking's good for you, and hunting is fun.

Love the alutacea bob.
Took these images a few days ago. The forests were dominated by carpets of Mycena, easily the best I have seen of them. Plenty of A.muscaria and a wide variety of edibles around too.
Headed out into a windswept grassy paddock to search for P.alutacea and to my surprise found them scattered throughout the paddock, with pretty much every other dung loving species out in force too it seemed. Spotted a few dozen in a relatively small area.

The first P.subaeruginosa of the season for the area. I think there will be a big flush here a week from now after the heavy rain this weekend, there were already maybe 15 pins with a few patches waking up.

Yes, so true, I went out both days last weekend, and in spite not finding any active ones I had such an amazing time around nature
