PC Graphics Cards Cool Down Question? 1

Hello All
Sorry if this is a silly question, but when you finish playing a graphics intensive pc game (one that pushes your gpu) do you need to leave the computer running for a few minutes after playing a game (to let the gfx cards fans cool down the card first), or can you shut the computer down as soon as you finish playing. I feel the correct way is to leave the machine running for a few minutes first, but was wondering if a graphics card will still operate the cooling fans even after the pc has shut down?
Again sorry if this is a dumb question .

It's all good, I asked the shop where I got the pc and they said it should be ok to shut down after playing intensive games. Im still a bit concerned that once the pc shut's down, that the gfx card will lose all power, so if the fans were still running, they'd stop and the chips could cook a bit.
Im just gonna leave my pc on for 2-4 mins after playing a gfx demanding game just to be safe.
Thanks for your help
btw, here's a list of different systems current and long gone with the system original names given as a possibility.
Sega Mega Drive - was first called the Sega Mega Crap Super Nintendo - was originally called the Super Craptendo Atari - it's first name was... Craptari And last but not least... PC - well that's easy.....the Piece of Crap
As you may know by now, im a Commodore Man.....Man
Back in the 80's and 90's I remember it was a common thing for people to bag other systems and praise the system of their choice.
ah the good old days

Ya know, i never thought of this before. I would say letting your computer idle is a good idea, just to be safe. I would think that by cooling your GPU down after gaming would help prolong the life of the video card.
An interesting question thou. Im gonna research more on it in the Interwebz....

Nah, no need. If your GPU doesn't drop from full load temps to idle temp by the time the computers shut down, there's something wrong.

Hi guy
So I did a test (thanks to a clear side panel) to see how long it would take for my graphics card cooling fans to stop after playing a AAA game on high settings.
It took the fans around 30 - 40 seconds to completely stop from the moment I quickly quit the game. It's the middle of winter here in Tasmania, so I'm guessing that on a hot summer day it'll be a bit longer, maybe 1 min?
So it seems that it's not a problem to shut down right after quitting a graphics intensive game after all, but waiting 1 minute wouldn't hurt ether. I was just a bit worried for my new computer.
Thanks again for your help LogicaL Chaos and stubb

Nice!
I think thats the best way to do it. A minute of cool down with the computer idling then shut down/sleep

After you quit the gfx intense application the gpu cores will cool down very quickly (30 sec -1min). So you really don't need to worry about this. You can get some measuring tool and see this for yourself.

Good idea. An IR gun pointed at different parts of the card?
