Please help me identify this beautiful mushroom
    #26648132 - 05/04/20 11:33 AM (3 years, 8 months ago)

Habitat:
I found this yesterday (May 3rd) after two days of rain. I found it off a hiking trail in central Kentucky. It was growing out of the under-side of a decomping log. I had to roll the log a little to get it at the base, but it was growing from the bottom of the side of the log. The base, before the stem started, was white with blue-black inside. I had to cut that part off though when I was cleaning these.

Gills:
The gills are rust color. The were lighter when it was alive, and now they're dark rust color.

Stem:
The stem on the bigger one (there are two) is 3.5 in long, and 3/4 in thick. The little one is 2 in long, about the same thickness. They're hollow.

Cap:
The big one is 2 in in diameter, the little one is 1 in, They are rusty in color, the texture is groovy (not a pun, they have little lines that make them feel groovy), on the little one, the grooves haven't spread out much at all yet so it's pretty groovy, as far as their shape, they're like the top of a cupcake, the little one is a really tiny round top of a cupcake, they are concave (if I haven't mixed up with concave means, but they're like cupcake tops).

Spore print color:
Big problem! I washed all the spores off. I might have picked them before they were dropping spores, I'm very new to this. This is only my 3rd time hunting. But I washed them because the last ones I found I didn't wash and I woke up the next morning and checked on them and their were worms in them! So these have no worms, but they have no spores either! I will not make this mistake again. very sorry and I really hope you can still help me.

Bruising:
They don't really bruise any color.

They don't have a strong smell at all. They're large and beautiful.
