Hello good people,
Absolute beginner here, first hunt yesterday!
Habitat: Parklands, lots of gum trees in patches. Searching around fallen branches and leaf/bark litter.
Gills: Light brown/tan
Stem: White, thicker than most other mushrooms I picked
Cap: Brown/tan, blue tinges around the rim.
Spore print color: Brown, purple tinge

Bruising: significant blue bruising by the time I got home
Location: North east suburbs of melbourne, vic
I picked a few different types while I was out but this was the only one that showed any blue. It's also the only one that was a darker coloured spore print, everything else was pretty much white and I've disposed of them all now as carefully as I could

A week ago I stumbled upon a crop of fly agaric's and that just set me off.

Thanks for the fast reply, I didn't want to jinx myself but geez I can't believe I found a sub on my first outing! I'm very excited to head back and search for more.
Cheers on the marasmius oreades ID too, that does look right for the majority of other's I grabbed - these were the first I found. It's neat they're edible, but I've tossed them already. The main other type I had were tan/reddish everywhere, gills and stem, so I know they're not active.

Yes, they're laccaria laccata. As for the one in the top right corner, I can't tell without knowing more. Inactive, though.

Brilliant thanks, yeah laccaria laccata looks about right. Here's a closer view of its gills and white spore print in comparison to my good one.

Foolish me I didn't get a gills photo of that fat-stalk top right one, but the spore print was very much white. The gills were very fine/close, also pretty much white by comparison to the sub. I wrote it off after not getting any hint of blue from stalk.
Thanks again for the naming, I'm now feeling much more comfortable in the visual comparison between these different types!

No problem! Please drop some more photos next time you're out and about. In situ photos are often better for id'ing by the way 😀

Will do! I did get ground shots of some of the non-actives I had but I'll be more careful to photo each one next time to be sure I've got any/all good ones!
Thanks for the help and tips!
