Couple pics from today. First year hunting, second spot I've harvested from. First spot is way too crowded and kind of a pain to get too, but this spot has been crazy good and stretches on for a good while. Been trying to leave a lot of smaller ones, only took a handful of the larger ones.
This community has been awesome! I'm loving seeing all these beautiful shrooms and the support is great! Never knew I could find these so close to home!

Plenty of opportunity in Maryland where there is box elder on the flood plain. A great time was had unexpectedly meeting 2 other shroomerites finding ovoids left and right given the correct habitat. Here’s some pics. Would’ve gotten more but I was too into the search at the time.

It’s a type of maple tree with distinct bark and leaves that look similar to poison ivy. Ovoids love growing from its fallen bark and branches

Seen four teenagers in the floodplains filling up pladtic bags. I think we scared em off and upon closer examination we discovered a patch that spans about 5 miles of big ass voids. Thickest chunkies voids we ever found. Filled a few bookbags. Good to see others out here doing gods work. Plenty of mushrooms for everyone. Whole bunch of morels too growing in with the voids.

There seems to be an increasing amount of pill bugs / roly poly type bugs crawling around in mulch patches.  I put up a diamtaceous earth barrier around but I think its a bit late since they are in it.  I assume they are eating mycelium.  Are they a big problem that anyone has dealt with?

I saw a youtube video about making bait traps with hallowed out potatoes I am trying but not holding my breath.  I might try and pick them out or suck them out with a dust buster.

I picked out a slug eating mycelium this morning too and chucked him out on the drive way where robin birds where eating worms.  Bastard.

Found a great spot the other day!  I've never seen these hygrophanous dark olive colored, two-toned ones, and these were everywhere.  The caramel colored ones that I'm used to finding were the exception.  These overall seemed darker too making the blue bruising very hard to see and made me second guess what I had found.  They have that unmistakable ovoid smell. I searched the older ovoid threads to see if others had posted any that looked like these but couldn't find anything.  Has anyone else out there seen them like this before?

Usually the ones i find on deirbs piles are real dark like that unless they get big enough to get above all the sticks and leaves. When they dry out the will turn tanish color

They're dark because they're at max capacity of water and at the end of their lives.  Good thing you found them when you did.

Gotcha. Thanks!  It's great to see many of the variations of ovoids on here.

Transplanted some substrate last Tuesday to a mulch bed in my yard, I have myc growing towards the surface. Hopefully I get some pins soon! I didn't expect anything from it this year, or at all to be honest being my first transplant. Anything I can do to ensure success?

The tree featured in the first shot is a boxelder. There are a bunch in the third shot but the one in the center is a younger tree.

They tend to have no visible horizontal roots near the ground, are kind of lumpy with thin branches coming from the lumps and have leaves that look very much like poison ivy.  I find them leaning out over creeks a lot.
