A couple questions about re-sterilizing needles

So to preface I used the search function, but a lot of the threads are about syringes.
I have a needle from a vendor that although unused, I need to re-sterilize... Some say to put it in boiling water for 20 minutes or so, while others say to throw it in the PC.
Which is the better option?
-Could I throw it in the PC w/ my grain jars for 90min @ 15 psi? - Would any water or condensation accumulated make it not sterile anymore? - Just take it out of the PC/ boil and Dry it off w/ iso afterwards? - should I sterilize the needle w/ the plastic cap on or off?
kind of redundant questions, but dont want to screw this up. Thanks for the help everyone.

You want to wrap it in foil or put it in a jar to pc it so it’s covered and stays sterile til it’s in the SAB and ready to use.
You don’t want to iso something that’s been sterilized because it could contaminate it, same reason you don’t iso wipe a flamed tip.

Sounds right, I’ve never PCd one before though so idk if the needle cover can take if. Somebody will come through or you could look it up.
It doesn’t need to pc as long as grains but probably won’t hurt.

The caps run just fine in PC. I wrap whole needle/cap in foil and run several at a time in a 1/2 pt with the lid cracked (like swabs). Take one out of my jar in the SAB and put the lid back on.

Also, when you put in the PC, point the needle upwards (if you are sterilizing water in the syringe) this way you do not lose water in the syringe

Do you guys wrap in foil then submerge in water when PCing in a jar (with other jars) or do you just have it in a jar with a loose lid? I'm thinking about reusing syringes to be more eco-friendly, and I'm wondering if I should just throw in an extra pint jar with foil wrapped syringes, then put on one of my numerous jars with holes in the lid and let it go, or if I should submerge the syringe+foil wrap in water then use a normal lid finger tight as though I'm preparing a jar of fruit for the winter.

I re-sterize any needles, tools, syringes etc by putting them in jars, foil, small aluminum container and/or within disposable/one use, small, self seal sterilization bags (that get wrapped in foil or placed in jar/container to keep out of water) ..... but only within my very small aa915 or when running agar or lc.
I recently snuck in some syringes etc not long ago with a full load of grain bags within my large aa930 pc which proved to be a mistake .... they all melted severely. This is no doubt due to the fact that when doing a full load of grains, I run it at 20 psi for 2 to 2.5 hrs which proved to be too hot for too long with even sterilizable plastics ... thankfully it was wrapped/contained well and didnt melt onto the inside of the pc nor the bags .... but lesson earned and learned so wont be trying that trick again

thanks
Will probably do this... Just wondering if its worth the hassle, or if id be better of just boiling the needle for 20ish minutes as ive read in some older threads...
also unsure if condensation overnight on the foil / needle would be a contamination issue

If all I had were a few caps/needles I wouldn't waste the time even pulling out a PC and would simply boil them for 10 mins or so and call it a day

I did this recently and ended up with a whole bunch of bacteria infected jars All of them from 2 different LC's and multiple different PC runs came out with the same bacteria, so it had to be from the syringe. Jars made a day before with g2g and a few days after with g2g had no issues. Different strain LC's too.

Wasn't the syringe. If you made an LC from spores that's the problem. The plastic syringe itself was just fine. Spores are not axenic you cannot start a LC from spores without doing agar work first.
