What's your drying process in the dehydrator? Which heat setting and for how long do you do it?

Personally i just run it on the 3rd setting (hottest), haven't noticed a difference in potency etc...
a mate once said not to dry them to hot because Psilocybin burns at a low temp. but this particular dryer seems to do the trick, must not get to hot and works in a few hours.
once they are "twig snappy" they get blended into powder - i guess this helps with getting a standardized dose as some may be weaker some may be stronger and if you accidentally get a dodgy one in there it would be spread around with about a kg of the the right stuff.
when they are powder it gets bagged and put in the freezer for a rainy day (The other 9 months of the year)
Hope this helps
Cheers

Thanks,
btw your sig photos look a bit like mount Macedon, tbh ive never found any thing up there in the pine.... Met a bloke there this morning who we traded some subs for a few descent size slipper jacks. I cooked them up this arvo in butter and garlic and think he got the better deal lol, they are a bit to soggy fried. I think next time i might try slicing and dehydrating them and then adding them to a noodle or soup.

A beautiful walk today amongst some urban bushland. Any opinions regarding the lighter coloured subs? i.e. clearly subaeruginosa, purple spore print - but only slight blueing, lighter coloured gills, etc. Are the darker blue specimens from woodchips more likely to be potent in psilocybin from other's experience?

Have been a lurker on here for a while now and decided to go out for my first hunt. Found a heap of shroom patches and have picked what I believe to be subs..

Unsure if these were subs as there was no bruising so I left them.

And i didnt think these were subs either..

Also left a heap of pins so look forward to checking them out over the next few days.

Thanks to everyone for the huge ammount of information on here!

I found two patches within the same substrate today that were completely opposite in colour, one patch very dark and the others almost bright yellow. I almost missed the bright yellow ones as I didn’t believe they were subs however they definitely are.
Regarding potency I don’t believe the colour determines potency, normally I find mushrooms within the same patch can have differing potencies and as far as I know this may just be luck of the draw.

I've been looking for the last week without any luck.
I was out for a quick stroll earlier and noticed this patch beside the pavement.
I thought there were multiple different types there but I posted for an ID and apparently they are all subs!

Reason for deletion: I had a closer look at the mushrooms during the day and they turned out not to be subs.

Hi Painkiller, first of all thank you for your info here, it helped me successfully find subs for the first time. Found them beautifully staining blue in landscaped council gardens, woodchips, near gum trees as you suggested, yesterday after a few days rain and cold. Just wanted to give a heads up to other first timers, Psilocybe Subaeruginosa is a hell of a lot stronger than you might think. My partner and I used your guide (2g of dried = 20g fresh) and went for a medium trip, being somewhat experienced with psychedelics. Luckily we were in a safe space and well prepared, but let's just say time completely disappeared and we both felt like we were seeing the entire universe, experiencing all knowledge and memories all at once. Complete loss of bodily awareness. I understand that the amount of psilocybin varies from mushroom to mushroom, but just a word of caution: be prepared to experience this if you are going to take subs. I didn't realise that they were one of the most potent guys out there. Now we know. The experience was life changing by the way, no regrets whatsoever.
(Pls don't get mad at me for picking the baby bois, I was so excited and wanted to study them. The patches were huge, plenty for others)
Feeling the love! Thank you mushrooms!

Thank you for saying thank you. It makes me feel good.
Oh I'm aware how strong subs can be. Don't worry about that.
I did mean for people to start with a low dose and I thought I made that clear. Still, it's good you mentioned your experience. Hopefully others will now be more likely to start with a low dose when they first try subs, no matter how experienced they may be with psychedelics.
Personsonally, I don't have any problem with people picking pins. Just be aware that they're more potent than mature mushrooms gram for gram.
I'm glad you got something out of the experience. It's what it's all about

Last season for me was my best thus far.
Collected approximately 80 grams dried which was split between 3 people.
I had two 2.5 gram trips and that was enough for me for the entire year, absolutely astoundingly strong.

Though this is controversial topic, I think the consensus is its more potent per weight/size. You get far more weight picking matures so it definitely is more desirable. Plus pins havent yet gotten the chance to drop spores.

I meant to say pins are more potent than mature mushrooms gram for gram.
So a gram of dried pins (correct me if I'm wrong) could be as strong as 3g of dried mature subs.
I've never taken just pins, but I remember a while back someone told that they did and they found a gram of dried pins to be as strong as 3g of dried mature mushrooms.
I'm plenty aware that others may have a problem with people picking pins, but I don't personally. The way I see it I'll always be able to find enough subs for myself even if it was common practice for people to pick all the pins. Not to mention, if picking pins is going to make someone happy, then I'd rather them do that than a lot of the others things people do to make themselves happy.
