Mini Mono. Which way to go?

Hi good peoples,
I have a few 30 quart containers. Shoebox sized but quite tall so I don’t have to dubtub them. I have been reading and reading and am confused about what to do about FAE. Being 30 quart do I just flip the lid and that’s it or do I need to drill 1/4 inch holes or drill holes like a mono? What’s the latest thinking on this? Cheers heaps for such a great place to learn.

I'd run it like an unmodified monotub. I hate modding tubs because they become single purpose afterwards.

I'm pretty new and doing shoeboxes so I'm hardly an expert. From what I have read, the larger boxes may need holes unless you are going unmodified. The unmodified tubs are a specific brand and model although I am sure it could work with others as well.
Once you put spawn in a box, you will start to see if it's too dry, wet, not enough FAE, etc and you will be able to make adjustments from there. Perhaps check out pasty whitney's easy dialed monos.
Here is a good reference for fruiting chambers and ideas. https://www.shroomery.org/13873/Fruiting-chambers

Cheers. I was thinking unmodified however the tubs I have have a rounded edge on top and look like they would seal pretty well even unclipped. I was thinking about trying to get around this by either drilling a few small holes which I could tape or untape or alternatively just put a dab of hot glue in a few spots around the inside of the lid to make the lid sit up a tiny bit and create a small crack around the circumference. I guess it will come down to trial and error. Maybe I should do one with holes, one with glue and one totally unmodified. If anyone uses these totes with the rounded shape for the lid let me know what you do. Thanks legends

Can you show us the pics of your tub?
Yeah, unmodified mono is definitely written for a specific type of tub, but it can work with other types.
sillysyban, couldn't you just flip the lid?

This is the only pic I have as I’m away at the moment but I think flipping the lid it wouldn’t stay on to well unless maybe I taped it in spots. Definitely possible.
