So looking to expand into eatibles & increase capacity.. My fleet of poor little Presto's are bulging... I dont like pc-athons for days on end...
Time to build a Proper steamer.
Journal
I am a cheap ass & like to repurpose so off to the scrap yard I go in my beat up old work truck.
100 USD later

Now the fun part.. turning this pile O rust into pure Badassery...
Next stop was my local hardware store & dropped about another 100 USD.
Then with most stuff in hand I got to welding & turning pipe.
The heat will be generated with an old Turkey Fryer burner from garage.

Also Ordered:
5 psi 3/4" Pressure relief valve 70 USD (coming next week)
2 stainless steel & brass float valves 25 USD
Braided washer line 15 USD
Load of bricks + some laying around yard. 20 USD
25 gallon new propane tank 150 USD <----- That one hurt my cheap ass
Will paint eventually.
Fully expandable to add 2 additional tanks below if Boiler will push em.
I am not cool enough Like RR ( his post inspired this build, Thanks) to have an underground grow room to pipe the exhaust steam into. I may however build a small sauna next to it at some point.
Work in progress... Will update & very much open to suggestion.

Pretty cool. Why not an electric wallpaper steamer and plastic pipe?

PVC has a heat deflection point of 140 to 190 F. Acceptable for light pasteurization at best. I want to fractional sterilize grain too. Planning to try & get her up to/about 100c 212F.. PVC would most likely turn to spaghetti at those temps for long periods of time.
Just stuffed 250 lbs (dry prior to hydration) Wheat in her for the maiden voyage. 76 Unicorn 3T bags.
A wagner pvc'ed up to a sterilite will only produce enough steam to pasturize & not get anywhere near the capacity I was looking for.
This beast is industrial sized & built from good ole American rust, busted knuckles & blood.

What I meant to say was 12 Wagners and copper pipe.
I'm no help! Out of my league. Best of luck, tho.

*Update* 6/24/20
Needed upgrades. Feel it is now Dialed in.
Holds 2.5 PSI no problem...
I have reduced capacity from 76 3T bags to 64.. just fits better & minimizes bag contact with barrel. The grains burst & turn to a starchy mass when in contact.

Upgrades included:
Apollo 5 PSI Pressure relief valve
Ashcroft 5 PSI guage
Steel braded condensate returne lines
Sight glass
Insulation
New thicker lids
Gate valves to restrict steam escape & build pressure.
Canopy
I now safely can sterilize 200 lbs dry weight Wheat in a single run.
Next week I plan to stuff it with suplimented sawdust blocks.
Next upgrades will be be paint both in & out (looking for recommendations on interrior paint). Pipe up steam room
