Harvard suggested about the same time frame. On and off social distancing till 2022.
I saw that Oxford is already in human safety trials, and is optimistic that they could have a vaccine for use by the general public by September.
https://www.cbsnews.com/news/coronavirus-vaccine-september-oxford-university/
If that's true that's absolutely amazing, and absolutely unprecedented. Keeping my fingers crossed, for sure.
On another note, grandma has surprisingly tested negative(yes!) for COVID-19. They tested her entire floor, and did indeed find more cases, which they've isolated in different areas of the building. I'm not quite sure what the exact number is now. Deaths remain at 3, which is, in and of itself is kind of amazing. This has been going on for a month now - so I have some cautious optimism that a good chunk of these people with ongoing covid infections are poised to beat it.
Just hoping that the relatively high number of false negatives associated with the test aren't going to fuck up the facility's mitigation efforts.

Go do a google search for CDC donors. It's mind boggling.
I gotta ask my self, how many on that list will continue to profit from this pandemic?

One of my aunts tested positive for covid a few days ago. Her prognosis isn’t good, and she lives in a nursing home in ny. I hope she finds and gets some comfort and ease in this time.

Sorry to hear that man
A great aunt of mine (I've never met her) is 91 with diabetes, congestive heart failure, and some lung problems (don't remember exactly what). She's still going strong after being diagnosed 2 weeks ago, pretty sure she's out of the hospital back in the nursing home now
This thing is so unpredictable, hope your aunt gets through it okay

It really is so unpredictable. Some younger people with no apparent co-morbidity get slammed, while other folks who are not exactly the picture of health, to say the least, make it out okay. It just seems like to some small extent it's kind of a crapshoot as far as how it effects you and how rough a go you have .

Sorry to hear about that. I hope she's able to stay comfortable at least. That's what I'd want with my grandma. The idea of her being intubated is horrific, especially paired with the thought that someone with a better outlook might not receive it if they need it. I just hope that the older folks who have it and who will end up getting it are being kept as comfortable as possible.
Part of me feels uncomfortable acknowledging it, and maybe I don't know what I'm talking about, I'm not a medical professional of any kind - but I'd rather see my own grandma on palliative care rather than having to undergo something like invasive intubation.

Finally asking the real questions.
The curious part to me is how many people are getting off on the fear narrative and lashing out at any sort of rational discussion.

Some doubt on Andrew Kaufmann's authenticity. He just made a claim that scarlet fever went down without a vaccination... but scarlet fever results from untreated strep infection. And strep is a bacteria that is treated with antibiotics. You can't get a vaccination against it but you can treat it easily before it develops into scarlet fever. He should obviously know this and equating it to polio or smallpox as he does in the above video means I cannot trust him as genuine.
That said, I hear quitting your job and avoiding the outside cures coronovirus. I know this because China is totally on top of it.

I'm not an anti vaxxer, but you have to be a complete moron to take a vaccine that's been tested gor less than 2 years. Even animal vaccines in Russia get tested for much longer.
