Please identify!!???
    #2664139 - 05/11/04 06:34 PM (12 years, 8 months ago)

Okay, Im going to try and do this the right way. I found these mushrooms in Southern New Jersey, and they were growing on a lawn. I did a sporeprint and it came back black as shown below. My guess is that they are either pan subbs or Pan foenisecii. It has rained for a steady three days and it has been about 85 degrees steady. Here are the pics please help identify. And one more question if they are active, if I allowed them to dry would they become more potent or does it not matter. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

The pictures are small so it's hard to tell but it looks like you may have a mixed collection there.
However they aren't Pan Subs, I think you are right on with the Foen guess.

Peace - @cro

They could also be a Coprinus.

Either way, no they are not active. Foenescii are not active no matter where you live.

No...
I'm not sure where the "Pan foens being active" thing started but those won't be. There is a mystery Pan which is down south in Florida and I believe maybe in Georgia that GG and a couple others find which is active and may be where that started but they will all tell you what they pick is not a Foen.
If you want to look for Pan Subbs, they have been found in grass but this is not an ideal spot. Try manure dumps, don't know how many of them there are in Jersey but good luck, you'll probably need it.
Your best bet would be hunting in closets.
Peace - @cro

Hm, I noticed that your picture post is similar to Emeraldmist who also posts 2 inch photos. When I click on the picture to enlarge and they come up the same size as the thumbnails. This does not help in any kind of ID.
